in Karachi my 2 mamoons have made it to my parents home since they cant get to their homes. we still have 3 cousins unaccounted for. the directions to everyone are to make way to the closest home ..friends, family, colleagues they can make it to. My mamoons dont live in pakistan one has been overseas for 25 years theother for 15 or so, they are no longer used to the city so were pretty freaked out.

A number of cars were torched in Karachi, capital of the PPP’s heartland province of Sindh, where shots were also reportedly fired

Cars were reportedly set on fire in Hyderabad, also in Sindh Province

Police in Peshawar, in the north-west, used batons and tear gas to break up a rally by protesters chanting anti-Musharraf slogans

Unrest was also reported in Quetta, Multan and Shikarpur

I had to visit someone near Liberty market and there was no sign of life out there when i was coming back. All markets, shops everything was closed.

Qasimabad and Naseem Nagar (Hyderabad district) are still in chaos... lots of firing :( just got off the phone from my mother in law.

this took place around mashriq center area, there is firing at civic center on hassan square as well.

talked to my folks and they dont know about it but my sister is visiting and one of her friends brother lives right by mashriq center who reported that. he said there is something going on on roads so he had to park his car at agha khan and then walked thru the back areas including like national coaching center and the area behidn it to get to mashriq center area.

Pindi Stop (near Link Road) - Lahore in not so good shape

Thaukar - Lahore in similar condition

why doesnt the army come out of the barracks to control the situation and choas? they arent competent to take on a professional army, but cmon surely they can take on these street hooldrums..

I was hoping to be in pakistan for Jan the 8th and had to be in karachi for 12th. I was also hoping to be visiting different areas of Sindh. Lets hope some light finally shines ouf of this. Peopel from Sindh are going to be very angry indeed.

Army is very much needed to control the riots, otherwise the whole country will be burnt

Thye purpose of the army is to protect the nation from all threats - external and internal. Right now we need them to come out and assert their force in keeping law and order. Otherwise, all of our money (40% plus of our budget) spent on these ....s is going to waste.

a freind in ahiwal says that jalyalas rt burnign shops and forces have hiden themselves.....the city is closed.....he was just telling me on msn.....its 7.10pm uk time......
