My friends daughter is very young and is about start swimming at school. Her mother is very anxious and does not want her daughter to be bullied or efffected by the way she looks. When her daughter was born she had no hair on her body. As she has now grown up, in the past few months the hair growth on her back has become heavy and apparent. What can she do to prevent the hair growth oe totally get rid of it? Is there a mild form of removing the hair other then waxing which is extreme measures which her mother does not want to do. Something which is natural perhaps or pain free. The little girl is so beautiful, that i feel it will be cruel of other children notivcing it on her back other then herself. Please help with any effective measures that can be used.
first she should get checked if it is hereditary or if she has PCOS (hormonal issue) which can be controlled. she can definitely get it waxed or lasered too.
for something more temporary, why not use a depilatory cream? waxing will helpdecrease hair growth and make the hair more fine though as well, whereas shaving and depilatory creams will just take them off the surface.
mix phatkadi (alum) powder with rose water and apply daily for half an hour, this will take a long time...but i have heard that it is really effective in the long term.
Hair growth is mainly controlled by hormones so it is very difficult finding external long lasting solutions.
you know she can wear a bathing suit that covers her back! i dont think its nice to have little kids associated wit waxing and the sort till they are of age ...
and meanwhile, you can keep doing the phitkari (alum) powder thing ....
i've also heard here about rubbing besan and almond oil on the area with hair .. it helps over long run ... these things of course dont go away in a week ...
i have heard that by waxing at early ages makes the hair lighter and is better then shaving n all.and please to check with a gynacologist as really young girls have harmonal issues:) hope she gets a way out for her doll
My daughter is almost 4 and has the saem. I don't bother. When she is older she can get it waxed. I have heard that it disspears as one grows older but we'll see.
I agree with farrah and eastern 11. Let the kids be kids, they shouldn´t be associated with body, appareal and such things at so early age. Waxing is not a child thing, and I think it would be near to torture for a little kid. It will/ can also develope an selfesteem issue in future, that you are not good as you are. When she is old enough, I am sure she will get it done by her own.
there is no intention to wax. that is an absolute no,no as it is painful and not needed. we will see how she gets on, if there are any major concerns then we wil do something therise, i think it should be left alone and she can deal with it when she grows up.
I dont think you should use the creams, as they probably will just make the hairs come back thicker, since they are not removing from the root. Maybe you can bleach it?? I wouldnt wax such a little girl either!
hi princess i wanted to know how much quantity of alum powder and how much quantity of rose water. and what type of rose water..where can i buy thanks x
Muzna does smooth away really work? i bought something similar (diff brand though)from Walmart n tried on my dughter's upper lips. it didn't work at all. her hair is so fine n still it didn't take even a single hair off. but if Smooth Away works i'll giv it a shot.
u shudn't be too concerned about body hair on a child...its quite natural and the more u mention it to her..the more chance there is of the child feeling conscious about their body.
im sure the girl will get the hair removed wen shes older..there isn't any need for it now in my opinion
maybe you could try jolen bleach and jump in the shower? that seems to be painless. but that's only if the kid is super body conscious. and then the kid would eventually notice there is something undesirable about that hair and feel uneasy :(
my sister has a crazy hairy body in her childhood photos and as children, we never noticed it. so hopefully other kids will have those same innocent eyes which overlook these body things. and your daughter will be in the water and covered by a one piece most of the time, so im sure they wont notice.

You say she was born hair free and the hair growth on her back has become heavy and apparent in the past few months...
To me it seems absolutely crazy that you're asking for suggestions on the best form of hair removal. Firstly she is a very young CHILD do NOT touch the hair on her body. Most 5 year olds wouldn't notice a hairy back anyway! And you do know you can get swimming costumes that cover the back?
Get her to a doctor and explain the sudden hair growth. Hopefully there will be an explanation for it and you and your friend will not need to dream up the best ways to remove hair from a childs body.
she is 5 years old.she goes to quite a snobby schoool and the girls are very fast there.
Oh god this just gets better and better. The child is 5 and people are suggesting laser hair removal and other sorts of stupidity!!!
You wax the hair on her body and she will have a big problem with it for life! Is the mother going to carry out the hair removal on the child as required for every swimming trip?
Seriously, let her be a child, if you're that worried get her to a doctor. Don't start doing things to her body that shouldn't be done to a child!!!
