My Nana passed away before I was born so the only way I try to remember him is via pictures and the stories my Ammi and other relatives convey regarding him. The pictures here are already publicly available whether the Jakarta-based ones, Bangladesh, or Islamabad ones; the only difference is that the ones with my Nani have her face blotted out.
This first picture (1973-1974) was taken at the Jakarta School Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia; the school was holding a function in celebration of Pakistan Day.
[Sorry Moderators, could only leave the pics up for a bit of time! All of my apologies for the inconvenience; please feel free to close this thread]

Nice pictures Nadia :k. I love seeing old pictures…hmmm my dad also worked for the Pakistani Embassy though as not as an Ambassador, back in 1974 my dad was pretty young, he might know your nana
Sadi, wow that would be so interesting; although there is an age difference they might have known each other. His name was Raza Ali Hasan, although frequently he just went by Ali Hasan. That would be very interesting if they knew each other:)
I’m going to have to take the pictures off now, but if you need any information that might help, please do drop me a PM.
some pictures are not just picture they are infact a bundle of emotions and memories, so many incidents which happen yrs back and their reflections just spring up out of nowhere when we look at the pics.
I look upon them the same way when I go through my elderz pics they are indeed a great comforting source.
Nadia just asked my dad. Unfortunatly my dad does not know your nana abba by name. I think the reason is that at the time (1973-1974) he newly joined the Foreign Services in Islamabad and in 1974 he left Pakistan for one of his three postings. Thanks for sharing the photos and don’t take them off yet
Nadia, great pictures. Mash'Allah your nana was tall. Great memories arent they? I also remember my dada through his pictures, though I have only two old ones of his, and the rest are relatively recent. sigh Takes me back...thank you for the thread, and sharing your memories with us guppies. smile

Mareez_E_Ishq wow you took the words right out of my heart; some pictures do represent a bundle of emotions and memories. All I have left of my Nana are these pictures and I know it’s wrong but I sometimes wish he was still alive so that I could know him and talk to him. Thank you for your words
Sadi, oh tha t’s too bad:-( But thank you SOO much for asking anyways, I appreciate it.
Actually, around 1974-1975 is the time that Nana had slowly begun to withdraw from politics and as you stated your Abbu was young at that time… Unfortunately I had to take the pics off even though I don’t want to; I was looking at them early this morning and just got into the mood and wanted to put them on at a time when not many Guppies are on
Munni, thank you for your words. Stuff like this just takes me back, it is so comforting. It’s one of our few links to the past - perhaps that is what makes them more special. Many many thanks for your kind words.
