Unthinkable

Before discussing what I want to discuss, can I just say, I can only imagine how some people here must have very strong political views. I don’t want to start a fight or anything so please be civil with each other. Thank you.

So I just saw this movie, Unthinkable. I’m not going to lay out the entire story line here, even though its very interesting, i definitely recommend you watch it if you have time.

Anyway what I really want to discuss is, is torturing a valid method of interrogation in some of the most serious situations? At this point, everyone knows it happens in the States no matter how much they deny it.

Do you think its valid? At the end of the day, what they’re tryina do is save millions of lives.

Torturing those who’re simply suspects? those who’re innocent? Well.. thats an entirely separate chapter… lets stick to those who the authorities know for sure are responsible for something and he/she is not willing to talk… what options do they have?

Again, please be nice, let us see u did some schooling :mehr:

1) Torturing is a method used by people who have no fear of Allah. ie: army of shaytan. Be they Americans or Pakistanis or Egyptians or Saudis or Syrians (the worst torture happens in "muslim" countries)

2) If they knew the person is guilty then why the need of torture?

3) Saving millions of lives? Again, there's no proof. There's more proof that the prisoners are innocent, the recent outcry even from guards, is testifying that fact.

Give them a fair trial under international law and if found guilty, sentence them. If not, release them. Majority are held without a trial, what do we do? Just torture them because we "think" they will be the cause of millions of life lost?

I can tell you this much, for every innocent man/woman they take + torture, more than 1 will rise up on the other side of the battlefield.

does slitting throats, torn apart the body ,.came into your definition of "who have no fear or Allah" .. or it's limited for army of shaytaan ?

by the way the most torture happen in gay-extremists controlled area's be it Afghanistan, FATA region, Somalia, Yemen Tribal Area's and some parts of South East Asian Muslim countries.

Re: Unthinkable

First of all, public beatings for infractions like improperly covered hair or clean-shaven face, public executions etc...I consider these to be torture also.

I completely disagree with torture tactics in ANY situation. and I've often wondered why suspects are not given truth serum as part of investigation instead of using torture tactics.

Re: Unthinkable

Allah has forbidden zulm even on animals and no way torture can be justified be it emotional or physical.

^ i agree diamond.

But using the example from the movie Unthinkable, the man in question had placed three NUCLEAR bombs in three american cities... and he wasn't telling them where they were and they were set to go off within a couple of days... how else could they make him talk?

they could have agreed to his demands but then... every terrorist, every criminal would be encouraged to do something crazy like this knowing that they can't make him talk, they can't torture him, and the only option for them would be to agree to his demands...

Re: Unthinkable

^ BabieCue I haven't seen the movie that you are talking about. But by reading your post it seems that it was known for sure that the man has placed bombs and it was not some sort of doubt. I think when someone's life is at stake (like in the movie there are many many lives at stake) then to get the info out it may be considered okay to torture.....I mean thousands of lives are more important than the life of a terrorist.

^ that is my point.

But torture in the movie got wayyyyyyyyyy out of hands, wayyy beyond the “limit” when Samuel Jackson (responsible for doing the torturing) brought in his wife and slashed her throat right infront of his eyes hoping he’d speak up now… eeeek! … he refused to say anything he was in a shock… they then brought in his kids… they nearly got killed too :smack: … he kept on saying “these are two of his children against thousands of our own!” …

in the end, the man responsible for making all these decisions and allowing all this to happen (some politician) was heard saying “this never happened. they never existed. his wife, his kids, no one has seen them. ok?”

but then.. this was just a movie… im sure something as brutal as this wouldn’t happen in real life… would it?

Re: Unthinkable

^ oh ! now that is extreme. slashing an innocent woman's throat is just insane and inhumane. no justification for that. its pathetic and crazzy really. i felt so bad just by reading your post ......no this is extremely wrong it can noway be justified.

:hinna: i know right

:) far worse happens, let's leave it at that.

its a scary world out there

:femmefatale: khotay ullu de bachay saray <----- anyone who’s involved in this crap :snooty:

Re: Unthinkable

Again, I really dont understand why truth-serum drugs arent used. They supposedly make the person feel nice and cosy. Isnt this a better way?

^ really?

I think they’re not used because the testimony isn’t accepted by the court unless the person is 100% in his senses when making the testimony. We might as well get them drunk and they’d probably spit out the whole truth but then the court won’t accept it.

but then… if all they need is, for example, the location of the bombs, they can use the truth serum drugs :hmmm: may be they don’t work?

Firs torturing a person isnt what it make them speak. There are many example in which the person even die without speaking a word of information. Will that make any sense?

Also killing a woman and children is it acceptable even if the organization or the person who is interrogating is on the right side?

More on Yes there are and there has been such examples worst than this. Specially the Electronic Chair for Torturing the whole body effecting your nerves and brain.

You can read few of the famous historical was of torture here:
http://www.tofm.org/papacy/torture.htm

and yet to say that there was never an example set by Quran to “torture till death”. If you even say the torturing after " Zina" its a symbolic torture with 100 stones to make the person feel that it will hurt in the end and not with huge stones and having 1000 people standing around throwing countless on them.

Regarding Islamic teaching its either simple interrogation or death penalty.

Re: Unthinkable

If someone has planted a time bomb somewhere and a large number are supposed to die by that explosion. It is also the fact that this person under custody planted the bomb , he brags about it.
Now will it be justified to torture him to get that information out of him or not ?
Keep in mind this person vs thousands of people who can die if the bomb explodes.
