Maniac, I've begun to really question the ethics that rule a lot of these laws that govern use of technology.
I thought technology was to make the lives of human beings easier, bring humanity closer.
Technology was not to fill the pockets of these multimillionaires who own big firms.
I don't see why they have to make it illegal if its helping families be in touch better? Just coz they are losing out on business and their greed is not being satisfied?
The lobbies that make these laws are making unfair laws. I protest. I don't find anything unethical or immoral against using such systems, so what if its deemed "illegal".
it is, and has been legal in the US for ages... a digital pots is setup to recive voip... saves them money and gives you better quality...
However.. technically it is illegal to call from pakistan. then again a corless phone of 2.4GHz, any bluetooth device, even a world phone is also illegal in pakistan...
yeah had to research all this over summer was working as a consultant intern.. pk really needs to revamp there frequecy allocation band.. even 802.11b is illegal can you believe that? in simple words pakistan has no junk band...
It may be true, I am managing a VoIP project with multiple SIP phones including softphones. You can take the client anywhere so long you have the connection and the bandwidth... The only problem is calling emergency services e.g. 911.... If you call 911 it routes the call to where ever the PBX is.
I have been using these VOIP services for a while now i have three active at this time which are Packet8.net they only charge $20 a month and u can make unlimited calls and i have used there service in Pakistan also if u need help i can help u set it up with dialup. Than i have vonage the unlimited plan also for $29.99 for home use. Than i also have broadvoice.com on a 19.95 plan which is also unlimited. There is lots of other services out there but i liked packet8 never had a problem with it and uses less bandwidth so u can also hook it up in pakistan with a dialup.

Abdali i am working on a similar project, actually more like those packet8, vonage type services. Could you give me some technical info, like what proxy server you guys are using, NAT traversal problem, what CDR, if any. From your post i am thinking you may have a gateway with PBX trunk on one side and the proxy server (ip connection). Any info would be great man, thanks.
actually buddy u can make free unlimited calls from pak or anywhere in the world to Canada only for 15 cdn dollars

But Irem… that would mean the breakdown of the very fabric of economy… strict governance and enforcement of paid services makes sure that companies can spend more on R&D and come up with innovative solutions and ICTs to help people… it makes sure researchers and developers keep their jobs. The cycle of technology is such that when something new emerges, the older technology drops in price – so it isn’t very far away that VOIP will experience the same reduction in price and be affordable to the masses – until now, it has been available primarily to businesses.
you can buy cordless phone with 50Km range in pakistan.,, and you can use some Voip to call in pakistan and the number which gets displayed on CLI is of Mobilink or Ufone (most of the times),, isnt that illegal..
Re: Unlimited Calls to US / Canada from Abroad - $29.99
I came up with this topic a year ago, when I signed up with Packet8 for $20 (US and Canada unlimited) a month, u guys started making fun of me, stating that it was a spam and I was making it up.
Re: Unlimited Calls to US / Canada from Abroad - $29.99
does this really work? I mean don't the VOIP equipment or service trace IP's to see where the call is originating.. shouldn't be hard to do.. just block the third world countries IP's..etc..
