Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
The Quran, Surah 5:5 says:
*. . . *Likewise you are permitted to marry chaste believing women [Muslims] or chaste women among the people who were given the Scripture [Jews and Christians] *. . . *
What other interpretation do you have for it?
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
quran alos tell kill idol worshippers wherverver you find does this applies to mushrick or just people who lived in mecca during early islam?
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
Semi - I'm not a translator. That's the reason I asked for clarification on the basis of the references given.
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
I think you’ll find that particular verse was meant for the battlefield and not directed towards peaceful civilians.
It would apply in Kashmir against those scumbag Hindu/Indian soldiers who are killing and raping our people and our land.
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
what quran has to do with kashmir or kurdish iran/iran/kuwaite and banhgaldesh
conflicts?
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
^ He's giving those as an example of what that would apply to.
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
Absolutely.
This is a point so vast and realistic that in my understanding can make these intereligious marriages almost impossible because this is a big responsibility for a Muslim man.
Someone also said leave both the religions to the child. No, that is not right. It is the responsibility of the Muslim man to RAISE THE KIDS AS MUSLIMS.......
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
Do you not know the meaning of the words? What is a chast women in western culture? Anyone who has multiple male sexual partners and has many illegitimate childern etc etc?
tit for tat ![]()
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
tit for tat? ![]()
I quote scripture and you insult a whole culture with generalizations. And what represents piety and humility in your belief system- calling all women of a society whores?

The Quran, Surah 5:5 says:
. . . *Likewise you are permitted to marry chaste believing women [Muslims] or **chaste women* among the people who were given the Scripture [Jews and Christians] *. . . *

Too bad people conveniently ignore the bold part.
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
Yeah, too many Pakistani women these days are accepting skanky boys with open arms. Tsk.
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
Where did I say “Whores”… Tell me exactly? Where did I use this word “whore”…
I said, what do you think a chaste woman is? A woman with multiple sexual partners? a woman with multiple illegitimate kids? A woman living as a single mom? I have just asked if these are “Chaste or Unchaste” women?
Childern are recognized by mother’s name because their fathers are not knows. This is a culture you protect…
Bill Clinton said in one of his presidential address, “Soon a majority of our nation will be born without a wedlock” And this is a culture you protect and defend…
Let me give you some statistics about the family structure of America so that you should not blame be of “generalizations”
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
Tried to look up material and came across the following:
Muslim man marrying a chaste Christian woman
Who are the women of the People of the Book whom Muslims are permitted to marry?
A realistic look at marriage to women of the People of the Book
Marriage with non-Muslim woman who is neither a Jew nor a Christian
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
When the Quranic translation says "chaste women", how do we know if that means muslim women, or just all "chaste" women in general?
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
phatima jee, look at the Quranic clause - "chaste women" is modified by the clause "People who were given the Scripture".
Now you just gotta figure out if the man-changed Bible is really counted as Scripture anymore.
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
Right, so if the Quran mentions "scripture" it obviously means Islamic Scripture, therefore the Bible would not be categorized as a piece of this "scripture".
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
No. When Quran says "People who were given the Scripture", it basically is refering to Jews and Chrisitians.
Now to waste your time on questions like " you just gotta figure out if the man-changed Bible is really counted as Scripture anymore" is complete idiotic because those scriptures were already changed at the time of the revelation of Quran.
Islam gives permission to Muslim men to marry among the women of christians and jews and it is as simple as that.
Re: Unlawful to marry a mushrik
^ That’s what I always thought too, but then these verses from the Quran just confused me ![]()
