i was looking into whether mushrooms are halal or not. just for fun, cuz i just had a mushroom omlette
and it just struck me, arabia is one unique kind of topography, land, climate. it is not home to all the creatures (animals, plants, anything else). i am sure that during the time of the Prophet (pbuh) and even afterwards, when tafseers were being written, or ahadith were being collected, there must be a lot that these people did not know of. for example very cold regions, it’s condition, and what grows there and what doesnt (if they knew, they wouldn’t tell men to keep their ankles visible).
anyways. then how is it that there is apparently a hadith available for everything? how would people question about something they did not know of?
well when ahadith was compiled .. or events were taken note of .. In the time of sahaba and in time of Prophet saw. Islam was NOT just restricted to arabic .. when ppl accepted islam . they were from far and far places and esp you may have realised that theres so many ahadith where it mentions that a 'a'raabi' i.e. a beduin / villager came or said this or did that .. this shows that sahaba were from many places and they bought their own cultures and information..likewise, when ppl accepted islam .. the prophet saw inhis time sent sahaba to various lands for eg, hazrat Ali was sent to kufa to be the supreme court judge - qazi .. and when they returned they narrated / relayed the events, info of region and its conditions as u meantioned.. etc ..thats why u se now that where ever u are in the world .. there are muslims ..why because they were either sent their or they went from their to arabia ..accepted islam for eg.. hazrat bilal RA .. and their families accepted islam ..and so when it came to compilation of ahadith ..and writing of tafseers .. it was narrated with chains ..ie. who mentioned what .. for eg.. if a sahabi had heard something, then they would clarify it by asking who said it .. then they would find out as to who told him etc etc ..until it reaches a 'valid' position .. if the valid position is found then that narration or even or action was recorded in ahadith books or they were deemed non valid and would drop the status.
