It seems like it’s been over a year or maybe even more. But we’ve been receiving calls mostly during the daytime, sometimes evening by an ‘unknown caller’ (caller id). The calls came once a day and then progressed to 3 times a day sometimes. It’s more annoying than anything else. The caller listens for 5 seconds to me saying hello and hangs up. But now i don’t even answer it and let the machine pick it up. I don’t understand what somebody could get out of this behavior?!

If you've got caller id and you know number is withheld then do not answer call. Or do what I do, keep whistle by telephone and blow whistle into telephone and blast their ear out! or say sumat like 'Hello, New Scotland Yard, do not worry i am only tracing your call' and then put ur phone on mute. Obviously some peeps av got nuffin better to do with their life than to make others miserable....

U sure u not got secret admirer:Dwho wants to listen to ur voice? does this person only do it when u pick up phone or with all members of ur family?

The best way to deal with irritant callers is to answer it (don’t say anything) and then immediately hang up. That way they can’t hear you or get to piss you off but will end up getting charged for the call 
Keep doing that and sooner or later they’ll give up.
