' yet you dont' know what unix is.
kaka ji actually i m applying to companies through my uni, so i sent them my resume also…and they called me for an interview..like i said before they might be looking for more then one person..and maybe they have different jobs..i just wrote this post here so maybe anyone here can give me a useful advice..i didnt know it was that funny
hey sheraz dont freak out... unix is not that tough I took its classes ..its a cool operating system just grap a Unix book and get familiar with its command its somewhat similar to DOS.. They gonna train you before you are given any responsibilty.
I worked in Unix system during internship I didnt even have a clue but they trained me well to cope with it..
Grab the unix book, read it and go to different unix sites in internet I bet you will find alot of em, try to get some idea and basic understanding of this operating system.
maintenance and upgradation thingy you will definitely learn by experience..

muzna for interview..if they ask me what are ur three weaknesses..what should i say..
thing is they might ask what r ur three weaknesses in the IT ..yeh if they asked for general weaknesses i could say girls girls girls lol just kidding
hey sherrezz . i have some exp on unix.
but go to this site u will get lots of help. okay
its hotbot .com and then in search section try typing unix help u will get your answers here. okay dear.
its not that hard at all.
thanks mehak..i dont think it would be too hard..i just need the exposure u know..and u cant really learn much from books..i wish i get the hands on training somewhere..wish me luck
Dont panic…UNIX is not very difficult…its definitely a very powerful and robust operating system…much better than the Bill Gates’ funky windows (def. not in terms of user-friendliness)..(but otherwise, the comparison would be the same as an educated intellectual woman and a blonde bartender..)
As far as initial learning goes, no offence, just grab the UNIX for Dummies - its the best book on UNIX you can assimilate overnight…but I don’t recommend taking up the job dealing with UNIX administration until you have thorough understanding of it…
yes thanks muzna..i put movies music sports and surfing net (gupshup) under interest..should i put anything useful? how come i cant connect to chat from my home..is it cuz of slow connection..at work and at computer lab we have t1 connection
Assalam-O-alaikum sherraz,
I think you should visit computing.net, if u havn’t visited it before. in this site they answer technical questions and I think u can
get the main idea abt UNIX.
Nobody is perfect, I’m Nobody, this implies that I’m Perfect.

Alternately you can install LINUX on your PC (besides the normal OS you use) and start learning on that.. LINUX is just like UNIX, including all the commands and the looks and all..
For a very little ammount you can buy SuSE LINUX, the latest release with a book, which will guide you thru the installation, and buy another UNIX book to learn all that you can learn about UNIX and the commands used in UNIX…
Sorry about the delay...I had forgotten about this thread.
Three weaknesses......hmmm....here are a few:
"I would have to say that my biggest weakness is that I haven't learned how to say no. I enjoy challenges and have difficulty in limiting how many I take on. I often find myself eating up my leisure time with work-related acitivities."
"I sometimes feel the need to know the big picture instead of just working on the piece that is assigned to me. I think being aware gives me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction because I feel that I am contributing directly to a much larger project."
"I love (movies, playing squash, lobster dinners - insert your own) and find it difficult to pass up an opportunity to enjoy it/them. I'm going to have to curb these desires before they become addictions."
"Sometimes I think I am too generous with assistance. I can't stand to watch someone struggle through something. I'm always the first one to jump in and want to help out. I consider this a weakness because often my generosity cuts into time that I need to devote to my own agenda."
"I have difficulty letting go of a problem once I've identified it. I've got a curious mind and until I have resolved the mystery I can't put it away. Many a sleepless nights have been spent investigating and unravelling."
That should hold you for a couple of interviews......do remember one important thing. At the end of mentioning your weakness be sure to say that it is something you are actively working on to improve.
