Police has some training schools and National Police Acedemy in islamabad. There is no link or evaluation through university or Board exams for the cources offered at these institutes. So exams and evaluations conducted only for specialised subjects by same institutes limiting the knowledge and competence.
Specialised subjects can be inducted only for police just like amry use to have with Punjab uni before NUST.
I think this will improve the quality of graduates and also bring them in line with other knowledge as well. and hopefully when they retire or leave they will have some sort of recognised education for other jobs if they may wish to work.
learning how to dril or march and learning some age old cources will not help at all to improve this situation regardless we keep employing CSS elites at the top and keep the growing gap between them.
its the low ranking officials who delivers to public and i think that what it counts more. I dont care about a top notch doctor got senior post and cant deliver because the people who will deliver are not trained properly.
what you guys think, I know its not very interesting but i think this is one of the core area we have un educated ill mannered police on streets.
I totally agree with you Mr. Shak and we have debated this issue before in one of the forums. There is a need for an overhaul of the police system in our country on emergency basis. And I can list the areas that in my humble opinion need to be addressed when any such reform takes place. However, because of the time constraints, I would just say that before embarking upon any such program, we need to see whether we can adequately pay the police force so that they don't resort to taking bribes from the citizens.

ofcourse there are other issues to be addressed about police before we can expact a good service from them.
Realistic Pay
8 hours Shift Work and paid overtime, expenses - this mean we have to employ more police
better equiped (radios, mobility, safety )
etc
but it has to start somewhere, a good example is current motorway Police that has all above facilities and you can feel the level of service they provide to road users.
