Im planning to go to Uk for my master and at the moment im looking at different universities.Because I dont live there I dont know much about the universities so I would like you who lives in Uk could suggest some,
Im planning to do my master in Finance!
I really hope some of you can help me on my way ![]()
Re: Universities in UK!
Hey ![]()
We have some great universities in London but the fees are expensive for the top schools.
There is of course the world renownedLondon Business School; fees = £32,000
London School of Economics is also very good and one of the top universities in the world for the subjects it offers; fees = £24,000
Imperial College Business School; fees = £26,000
These are some of the top places in the UK. Of course many universities will offer MSc’s in finance with much lower fees. It depends what you are after.
Thanks for the info!
I will have a look at them to see what they offer I actually didnt knew the fees differ.I have seen some postgraduate programme which are for one year,do you know more about that I mean master is mostly done within 2 years??
Re: Universities in UK!
In the UK master's programs are 1 year full time (and a whole year September-September). You can do most 2 years part time as well.
I hope you can help me with this as well:
-there are some uni which has full time( 1 year) and some full time(2 year)
so does that mean that 1 year is very intensive or 2 year is like a "partime" but they say full time?
Here in sweden we have master which is done in 2 years, but 1 year sounds good but as long as its not very intensive :(
-I found MSc in global Banking and Finance intresting its at
European Business School London, whats your opinion about this uni?
Re: Universities in UK!
Hena, I will need to look at the course particulars to comment on the first question. Please link me to the uni's which say full time 1 year and full time 2 year.
I will have a look at the Euro Business School London and get back to you.
But yes, the 1 year courses are very intensive. You will have no free time. Your only friends will be the people on your course. You will spend all day with them and then most evenings studying or working on assignments. But it is amazing and lots of fun.
thanks a lot for the help :D
I will send you the link of the page very soon.
Re: Universities in UK!
european business school london- I have not heard good things about the place, not sure its programmes are accredited, and that is a red flag right away
thanks I will have a more deep look at that. Its quite difficult when you dont live there and every university seems to demonstrate that they are the best :)
I hope some more member could give advice about other universities:)
Re: Universities in UK!
I had never heard of Euro Business school either. After some research I found that it is a private institution and therefore they are not assessed and not on any tables. Who knows who accredits their degrees.
At the end of the day, I linked you to the best courses in the UK. It’s up to you to say how much you are prepared to spend on fees and people can advise you accordingly ![]()
I mean, some people aren’t fussed. They just want to get a degree from a UK university and attend a college that is affiliated with some bottom of the tables university just because the fees are low. I’m sure you are not after that.
The Cass Business School at City University is also well respected. Fees = £20,500
Universities like Warick, which are also very good overall (just not sure about this degree in particular) still also have fees in the region of £20,000.
Also please note that a lot of our good universities (UCL, Edinburgh, many others) don’t have a business school so don’t offer this specialised MSc.
I mean, here is what Bristol University’s department of Econ, Finance and Management offer. The fees are in the range of £10,000.
thanks again
I will have a look at all the universities which you have mention above but you know its not all about fees I have to look at the requirements as well.
I know very well that LSE is very good but its very difficult to get in,I can always apply to see what happens.
And the other problem at the moment is my grades are in swedish and im going to complete my bachelor degree in june so I dont know exactly how many "points" they are if I convert them to the british grade system right now,
so at the moment its difficult to even know which universities I maybe can get admission in.
But I know I have lots of time because im planning to go in January so I will go through all of the above uni you have mention and hopefully take a decision, inshAllah.
Some universities says you can apply whenever you want for master programmes during the year, is that so for all the unis or do you have any idea which month there is a deadline to apply for programme starting in January.
big thanks again :)
the thread is not close so if anyone would like to give any advice please do it,
It would be highly appreciated :)

I'm not sure about application deadlines for the different start dates but it will be listed on the websites. I'm sure it differs from Uni to Uni as well.
Anyhow, I know grades are an issue too but to be honest at Masters level in the UK it's largely down to ability to pay the fees. For example, I know lots of people who wouldn't have gotten into Oxbridge, UCL, Imperial etc for undergraduate programmes but had little problem being accepted for a Masters.
So if the fees are not out of reach, then I would apply for them all. Also, fees and the quality of uni/course for the subject you are looking at are more or less tied together.
If fees are an issue and you want to reduce the selection of the universities you can apply for, then it would be best to say.
People can then advise you of the best universities that fit in your budget... and as I said before, apply to them all.
I have been in contact with most of the universities and talked with the study counselor at my university and most of the universities you said(Stoppit), he said they are the one you should apply for.
I need to do IELTS, to get the degree in hands will take approximately 2 months from the day I finish all my course, all postgraduate programmes starts in September so hopefully Its most suitable that I if I go next year in September, inshAllah.
Most of the universities says that its best to apply as early as possible like in
January so im going to do it.
But another reason why I think is good to start next year is that I was in contact with London Business School and they said you need 2 years full time work experience and the average experience is 6 years in the class this year.
So its seems its good to have a knowledge about the practical side as well and not just the theoretical parts.
So hopefully everything will be in place before september and im looking forward to work one year to get experience during the time.
I talked with the study counselor and he said that these universities have a very good reputation(the above you mentioned) so I think its worth to pay,so the bigger issue its to get a place and not the fees.
Thanks a lot and I will announce it to you what I ended up with in the beginning of next year, inshAllah :)
Thanks again
Re: Universities in UK!
Sounds good Hena!
I guess I didn't write it very clearly but the ones with the best reputation also charge the most. So yup, if you manage to get a place in any of those, one would also try to find the money somehow as it's most definitely worth it.
What I was trying to say is that for a lot of people £20,000 is completely out of the question but then the best courses are also out of their reach.
Also, the LBS and the other top courses require that much work experience as the courses are very tailored to people in a corporate environment who need the MSc for career progression. They are not suitable and would not really benefit someone straight out of uni.
Good Luck, i'A you will get a good place!
