Re: Universities in England
Uni of sheffield is pretty good. its one of those Red Brick one's if I am not miostaken But I cud be wrong, I know a gal who'z doin her law from there and is pretty happy with it.
Btw Soul is right about scotland, a lovely place to be , much cheaper, treat their students with respect unlike english uni's and have great student villages. One of my cousins recently came from LUMS in pk to scotland for a conference and loved it. Try the uni of streythside( I dun know the proper spellings ) good ranking.
Moi
Re: Universities in England
Both Manchester ones.
Re: Universities in England
met is average in charts. If you want to really knuckle down it's Manchester. I didnt get in :-( it is the most oversubscribed uni in UK for computer sciences coz it;s the homebirth of first computer.
Re: Universities in England
any 1 has any idea abt WARWICK??
Re: Universities in England
Warwick is an excellent uni - educationally anyway. My sisters friend goes there and she loves it.
Re: Universities in England
I am here in University of Manchester and I think its definately one of the best place to study.
You can certainly aim for it.
Re: Universities in England
I studied at Umist, which is part of Manchester UNI and I did my Masters from Salford. I will definately recommend Manchester Uni, Manchester is called City of Universities, you will find diversity, asians, Pakistanise, Indians. Lots of European students and to eat out and stuff very good place to be.
You can borrow books from any Manchester Uni if you are student of one. If you really want to study then I will definately recommend Manchester Uni.
Hard to get into though, but you can try ofcourse.
Re: Universities in England
Manchester is a good uni, but if it was a hands up betwen that or Warrick - I'd opt for Warrick everytime. Manchester is good (for teaching) or so I've heard, however it isnt rated at all highly for student accomodation - or for student welfar (as rated by the students themselves).
Im also applying, and I think I want to go to UCL, as I was a moron last yr and fked up my studies. Otherwise I would have loved to go to Imperial. Kings is also fabulous, and alot my family have been there - albiet at the med school and not the physics department as I ahve had in mind.
Someone mentions good things about Westminister - is that really so?
Sheffield seems quaint to me, the atmosphere was friendly and my Aunt did ALL of her sudies there, up to her PhD I think. She loves the place and although based in central London wants to move that - she wanted me to go there also.
What I really want to know is how is Kent? It is my most insurance of places, I've spoken to the admissions administrator and he was (as expected) slling the palce to me. But i dont really know anyone in Kent.
And as for the Scotish unis, St Andrews and Edingbrough are both in the top 10 of British unis, not bad goign for that size a place. I've also applied to Edingburough - but am worried as I've (im ashamed to admit) never been to Scotland. What are the people like and the race relations? The cost of accomodation in Edingbrough, is it affordable? What about Asian populations? (how things change) and so on.
I've done research but as my family is largely centered in london and we are the ones who deviate most fromthe M25, Im not too sure as to how to get a real unbiased analysis.
Help :p
Re: Universities in England
If you are thinkin of economics then Aston is very good, i know people doin economicsa from thr are all in high flying companies now,,,,,,,,,,,,, and the people in birmingham are not 2 snobbish..........
Re: Universities in England
Dont worry what Uni u go to for your degree. In the practical life the most that matters is the nature of your degree. Nobody cares about the University unless its Cambridge Oxford or Harvard.
Re: Universities in England
^^ Seriously thats not true, if you dont a degree in a top ten uni you are hardly going to be snapped up by the movers and shakers of your industry of choice.
Re: Universities in England
LSE zindabaad!!!!!
