NOWSHERA: Unidentified gunmen have shot dead the son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain.

Initial reports suggest that the 25-year-old Mian Rashid Hussain was killed while on a walk with a friend near Nowshera. He was the only son of Mian Iftikhar Hussain.

The killing has been condemned by all political leaders. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rehman Malik have all strongly condemned the killing.

The interior minister blamed the attack on Taliban militants and said that government ministers and their families had been on an insurgent hit list.

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

the price we are paying to control this monster is overwhelming.

I salute to all the politicians & security/civilian bureaucracy for their firm stand.
Remember parade lane mosque incident, when children of sitting Generals got martyr by students of devil.

We are lucky to have people like Mian Iftikhar Hussain !

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

Very sad

Just look at these khariji freaks. They would kill family members to avenge a person.
The sad part is that there are many Pakistanis who still support these criminals.

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

Mian Iftikhar Hussein is very vocal and upfront in confrontation of Taliban.

Really really sad. Inna Lillah wa Inna laih e Rajeoon

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

Iconoclast, they killed his son. Mian Iftikhar is alive.
He was his only son.

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

Sorry i have corrected it, i really admire this guy (despite he oft anti-punjabi rhetoric) because, he is among the only few people in ANP who havent worried about his personal security and has always come out and be with common people whenever any terrorist strike happened. He does not hide behind security cordons. I think thats why his son has been killed.

No doubt the incident is sad and should be condemned…

but my brothers and sisters are being killed on daily basis, i totally disagree that terrorists are after the Ministers and their families, no they are after common man and every once in a while these ministers pays they price for not providing security to me.. the common man.. has there been swift action against the 1st murder in the region.. the son of the minister might have lived today…

The Minister himself and his govt are responsible for the killings, all they do is the talk and then they negotiate on our dead bodies… everyday a son of somebody is being taken away from them… today Allah have shown this minister that how much pain it is to loose a son who is young and healthy and has promising future in front of him…

I have sympathy with Mian Iftikhar but i do hold him responsible because he is the one who suppose to impose law and order, he is govt… he suppose not to talk only.. if only he had acted on the 50% of his talks… many sons might have been having a laugh in the cities.. playing cricket of football…

I hope other ministers get this message and do what it should have been done to safe-guard us… the common man of Pakistan

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

^^^ Good point, but its impossible to stop these terrorist scums from killing people. There is no govt in the world which has the capacity to prevent all terrorist attacks.

In case of Mian Iftikhar Hussain, unlike many others, he did not run away from these killer & I hope and pray that day will come when we will win this war against these kafir terrorist scumbags.

Inna lillah e wa inna elaihi rajeeoon! may the terrorists rot in hell!!

tragic. Mian Iftikhar Hussain is a gentleman. I saw him on TV just two days ago when he was defending the govt's decision to give an extension to Kiyani on Talat's show. it is so sad the way they targeted his only son. can't think of a worse way to hurt a parent. there is so simply no humanity in these taliban animals.

the govt should find out the suspects and kill them with their families. enough of the slow massacre they're inflicting on us. it's time to hit back and hit hard. there a story a long while back that apparently the army had detained the families of taliban terrorists in a camp away from the general population I believe in Swat. at the time I wasn't sure if it was best way to go considering human rights etc etc... but now I think the time has come to destroy these animals with families. all the bakwaas, you kill one taliban and you create another one in family must be put to an end even if the solution is to wipe out the whole family. teach them a lesson at their own game.

hell ya :k:

Policemen among seven killed in Nowshera suicide blast
Updated at: 1501 PST, Monday, July 26, 2010
NOWSHERA: At least seven people including three police personnel were killed and 20 others injured in a suicide explosion outside the residence of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar, Geo News reported Monday.

It should be mentioned here that the Information Minister’s son Mian Rashid Hussain was killed on Saturday, who was laid to rest yesterday.

According to sources, there were people at his residence in his native Pabbi area of Khan Sher Gharhi at the time of blast to offer condolences to the minister. However, the minister and his family remained unhurt in the attack.

A suicide bomber tried to force into the house; on the occasion following the burial of Mian Rashid Sunday, heavy contingents of police were deployed to fend off any potential threat to law and order.

On being intercepted by a police personnel, the bomber blew him up killing several on the spot and injuring many others.

The injured have been a local hospital in Pabbi and some of them are being transported to Lady Reading Hospital.

Police officials said a suspected car is also found near the house of Mian Iftikhar. Bomb disposal squad has been called for the checking of the car.

PABBI: A suicide bomber killed seven people on Monday, blowing himself up at a gathering of senior Pakistani officials mourning the assassination of a cabinet minister’s son by suspected Taliban.

Police said the bomber was stopped while trying to walk into the home of Mian Iftikhar Hussain, information minister in Pakistan’s northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the small town of Pabbi.

The bomber struck shortly after Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik had visited to pay his respects over the death of Hussain’s 28-year-old son Mian Rashid, who was shot dead on Saturday.

“Seven people, including three policemen, have been killed and 21 injured,” senior police official Imran Kishwar told AFP by telephone from the scene.

Doctor Suhrab Khan at the main hospital in Pabbi confirmed that seven bodies were brought in after the attack - three policemen and four civilians.

Critically wounded patients had been rushed to the provincial capital of Peshawar and nine others were being treated locally, the doctor said.

Hussain is considered the most vocal northwestern minister against Taliban militants. He also worked as a spokesman for the provincial government.

“The suicide bomber was trying to enter the visitor’s compound at Mian Iftikhar’s house. The policeman who tried to stop him was also killed,” said senior police official Liaqat Ali.

“Several guests visiting Mian Iftikhar were present inside the nearby mosque at the time of the attack and they could have been the intended targets of the bombers,” the police chief told reporters.

Four relatives of the provincial minister were also injured in the attack, eyewitnesses told DawnNews.

Police officials said the suicide bomber was seen doing rounds of the area before the blast took place.

Mian Iftikhar is considered the most vocal northwestern minister against Taliban militants.

He also worked as a spokesman for the provincial government.

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

wtf is going on? every week there is a person blowing himself up.

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister's son

These are the killers who kill Muslims on the name of Islam.

But who will tell them that hell is waiting for them.

Re: Unidentified gunmen kill KP information minister’s son

I guess we’re waiting till all is lost before we decide to act. until then let the brave Pakistani civilians who stand against these bearded animals die. the most important thing is that Kiyani must get his extension. everything else is secondary.

Iftikhar Hussain grieving for his son.

heartbreaking to see a brave, honest, patriotic man lose his only son. and for what crime? for speaking the truth and for standing up for his country and his home.
