Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

c’mon man .Forgive me ,i just couldn’t get that . couldn’t find that in the middle of so many Akhtar worshippers .

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

Akhtar is way too over weight big head. The man cannot run flat during the fielding let alone bowling a spell consistently without getting an injury. I will be seriously doubtful about his career from now on but it is almost looking like "go go" time for him.

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

Imran is smply jealous that shoab got all that attention and even a bollywood film. We all know how Imran wants people to beg him to become kind and save Pakistan but hates it when someone else is center of attraction.

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

Are you ok? Imran Khan was the man who glamorised cricket not just in Pakistan but all around the world. Forget Bollywood, in his heyday (and even now) he mixed with top international celebrities - as big as they come; Mick Jagger, Bob Geldof, Princess Diana, Jerry Hall etc. - and the very top echelons of British High Society. Most Pakistanis can only dream of that. So why should he be jealous of anyone?

The issue here is not Shoaib's skill or talent or his off-field commitments but his fitness record which is clearly abnormal - his inability to bowl through a test let alone a test series despite making big claims about his fitness recently, him missing 60% of Pakistan's matches since making his debut more than a decade ago! - This surely cannot be right. Yes he is a fast bowler and all pace bowlers have fitness and injury problems at some point during their careers but Akhtar seems like a special case to everyone. Shoaib only has to look at his contemporary Brett Lee. Lee is as fast as Shoaib but does not break down so often despite the fact that Australia play a hell of a lot more tests and one-dayers than Pakistan.

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

a very good response not sure what Tariq has got against Imran. I dont really have much more to say in his praise you have said it all. He was one of the greatest cricketers we have had and by looking at the exisiting team he will probably remain the greatest until another hero is born or atleast discovered.

You have already talked about his personality and not forgetting the great cancer hospital.

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

Since you ask I'll tell you what's wrong with imran.

If he wants to play elder statesman with Paki cricket he should do something about it rather than yapping from the sideline taking pot shots. Instead he wants the team the board and the public to pray to him and make him king for him to provide his superior participation. Well that hasn't happened and out of sheer immaturity imran has now resorted to slinging the press.

Frankly, shoab has shown more maturity by stating one person doesn't and it takes a team to play.

I can to some extend understand the frustrations of akthar - a genuine world class bowler caught in a lower medicore team that is in the recent past a victim of a combo of religious nuts and political issues.

Imran doesn't understand these structural issues; nor has he shown that he understand people who have their own talents and pride. The only people he seems to be able to deal with are mindless twits that are willing to treat him as savior king and his words gospel.

That's how he screwed up his politics and that's how he is now damaging cricket. In professional terms, he was a good individual contributor but since then has proved an incapable leader and motivator.

Think about Akthar - how long can you exert your 110pct with everyone around you more interested in growing a beard or genuflcting to the army guys running cricket?

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

Quite a valid point there .He should actively participate in the betterment of Pakistan cricket or else shut his mouth.

Don't agree with that .Why still shoaib playing in this Pakistan XI is because the reason pakistan is a mediocre side ,he can't find a place in a class side with this kind of fitness and attitude .Now this is such a pathetic side ,he looks better.

Also being a victim of religious nuts ,he was a trouble in the county cricket as well ,so that doesn't hold any value .
Moreover in this series they were spending more time with bollywood stars than in any religious activities .

Re: Unfair for Imran to single me out: Shoaib

I know that Imran is not without his flaws, he has a big ego and he can be rude to people he does not like. But as a cricket legend he has every right to criticise the team, board and media as he sees fit regardless of whether or not he is a part of the cricket establishment. I have no problem with that as long as he's not doing it just for the sake of it or to gain cheap publicity like Sarfaraz Nawaz. In an ideal world Imran should be the PCB Chairman (he won't serve under Mush in any capacity though!) and given a free hand to purge our administration and domestic cricket infrastructure but with all his other commitments (cancer hospital, politics, his ongoing work in his constituency Mianwali, Bradford University etc. plus he would soon need to devote more time to his two sons if they want to play professional cricket), I can't see him giving full time to Pakistan cricket again. Most people don't appreciate this but even raising funds through the year is very time consuming.

The present team is definitely mediocre but a truly professional sportsman should just get on with the job of doing well for his country without worrying too much about what others are doing. Akhtar surely was n't helped for much of his career by not having a tearaway seamer to partner him from the other end. The mutual rivalry between the two W's kept them going for as long as they did. Fast bowlers usu. hunt in pairs but that is still no excuse for him breaking down so often. Hadlee shouldered the burden of NZ's mediocre pace attack for much of his career and served NZ cricket with great distinction even though he did not have a decent fast bowling partner.
