yes, u only have to make sure though u find the ones that ACTUALLY know some good of him, and not people that will take EVERY opportunity to turn that guy down.. :-)

Sara how would you feel if someone you hardly know goes around and asks people about you, the people you might have pissed off in the past or people who think you are a nuttcase etc. would you like the person asking the Q to judge you for what info he got from all these people?

i agree with you, as far as friends are concerned,

there are so many case of people with double lives, it’s good to do a check up, around, invasion of privacy is not politically correct, but if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear !!
just like people who fear cops are likely to be criminals, those who fear other to go aroud asking question about them to realtives and friends are likely to have hidden secrets.
And as i’m against secrets btw spouses, i have nothing against private detective:halo:

though i don't think its a good idea to go around asking ppl about the one u r interested in. but if not family & friends then who else is left to ask? if u really want to know then better to ask him directly. i'm sure he won't try to hide anything. put some trust in him.

Lydiya, it cna be very tricking asking people. If sm1 is very close, you don't know what's in ppl's hearts or any hidden interests/dislikes.
One doesn't need a life-time to know someone, short time can tell us enough things to accept or not to accept the person. Unless God forbid, there's smth fishiy and hidden abt their family or that person, which is really really hidden, which can be taken care by God, so pray to him (how abt Istakhara?)
It's really hard to find out ones true nature. In the end it boils down to the two people, how smartly can they live with each other, assuming the perosn is not a complete A** H***, things cna work out despite initial turbulences :D
