According to Holy Quran, man must be regarded as the head of family for two reasons. One reason is that he is given the responsibility of earning the livelihood of family as he is given the mental, physical and emotional qualities that are very much suitable for this responsibility. In a similar way, women are also given certain social responsibilities that are much more suitable for them. Besides this sphere, both of these spheres are considered as equal. If all the above mentioned explanations are clearly understood, you will be able to see that Islam does not assign a lower status to the womenkind, as compared to mankind. It is regarded as a relationship in a way that a person is given complete authority over the other and it is of fulfilling the responsibility that is assigned for a person.
