are the couple just together, engaged or married?

-communication
-respecting each others point of view
-forgivness
-honesty
-trust

you need to talk to each other, understand the others personality, their likes and dislikes.
have sessions of just talking, we used to spend hours talking it's harder now with my son but we still make time for each other when he is asleep or playing and we sit and talk.
discuss everything that is happening, ask your partners opinions on things that have happened.
you have to be open and honest with each other and be able to compromise.
it's not always easy
if you have an argument don't let it carry to the next day it spoils your sleep and your mood. you have to be able to apologise and respect the other persons apology

I like this list. Communication especially is very important---you need to express your opinions and feelings honestly, with an open-mind, and calmly. And it's so important not to let your fears or paranoias go unspoken---in most cases where my husband and I have had any kind of conflict or misunderstanding, it's where one of us took something the other said or did, worried and worried and worried about it without saying anything, and let the whole small thing evolve into a big set of fears about the future and the other person's motivation. If we had discussed the fear from the beginning it wouldn't have had the chance to grow!

the reality is no 2 ppl can truely understand eachotha,,,,,,,ummm umm no way not possible . and no amount of communication can help 2 individuals understand eachotha.

Communication... sharing ones feelings and opinions. For girls, I think its easy to do, whereas for guys (atleast from my experience) you need to drag things out.
At first I always find myself tangled in a bigger issue when I try talking things through, but in the end things resolve and we understand each other better. Word of advice-- holding things in, to ensure that you dont hurt your significant others feelings may not be the best idea!
Also showing the other person how much you truly do care about them, by both words and actions. Seriously, hugs go a long way =)
I am so happy that we dont have any more graphic smilies .. this sequence is kind of scary, where it was leading …
