In forums such as Life reviving dead threads can be counter-productive. In forums such as histriry reviving can be a good thing - or even world affairs or science. As one learns something new one can reopen a dead thread to correct oneself or present evidence to counter other viewpoints.
Investment forums benefit from revival of dormant threads ( I prefer dormant to dead:)). We can test various strategies over time. Too many times I have come across flippant statements such ss " I have connections that tell me gold is good. And these are made at frothy levels. And the person making these “brave” predictions just disappears when things go the other way.
It is good to challenge ones own hypothesis - test ones strategies - provide basis for such hypothesis and strategies - and see how they work over time.
This is one place where healthy arguments can be very stimulating.
