I think in many relationships you have to “prove” yourself. You prove to your friends that you’re worthy of their friendship. You prove to your boss that you deserve to stay at the job or should get that promotion. You prove yourself to your spouse, etc.

I think the relationship that comes close to displaying unconditional level is that between parents and children. *And I know that there are exceptions to this as well.

Sigh I miss the old format of GS and I hope this one is temporary.

yea if the child ends up being a serial killer that slices up people everyday then it would be a one way ticket to the looney bin for that child, definitely can’t be unconditional love for such a child so even in parent-child there are limits
