Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

The deleted bits from Fatima Jinnah’s ‘My Brother’ - Blogs - DAWN.COM

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

:hmmm: Interesting.

The only thing this exposes is that Liaquat Ali Khan wasn’t bothered by QA’s ill-health and they had foreskaen him as soon as they realized that he was dying.
Now it was time for khul kailna.
So basically nobody is a saint.
I don’t see the need to censor this.

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

There was no need to censor it, but this just show the insecurities of bureaucracy in Pakistan and their fragile ideology.

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

I wish you and I were QA’s saathi when Pakistan was born.
We would keep things straight. :halo:

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

MAJ's health was a well kept a secret from everyone before the partition. had Gandhi known this fact, he would probably have delayed partition and it may not have even happened. Gandhi was a shrewd politician...he most likely knew, i guess, that after Jinnah, the Pakistan movement would die down thus avoiding partition.

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

Yes.

However, it is interesting that on the flip side, Pakistan also suffered from the rushed partition as many issues were not given enough time to resolve such as the future of Kashmir and the status of combined Bangal as a second Muslim majority state rather than truncated Bangal as part of Pakistan etc.

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

Jinnah died too early for Pakistan and Nehru died too late for India :)

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

too late? when he was supposed to die?

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

It was a phenomenally well kept secret. The British were secretly hoping for Gandhi to die. But what a wonderful record of loyalty and empathy shown by doctors who treated Jinnah and kept his illness a great secret.

But this book just proves that not all great leaders are surrounded by great men. Imran Khan is no exception. :D

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

This could be true for Nehru not Gandhi. Gandhi was most sympathetic to Indian Muslims, he though the whole idea of partition very flimsy and was of belief that soon these two nations would merge.

Before Chinese debacle, before 1960. He lived long enough to be a villain :)

True

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

so he believed that they are two nations?

Re: Uncensored - My Brother by Fatima Jinah

By two nations I meant India and Pakistan as seprate entity. He in particular asked British to quit and leave India to god, so I doubt if he ever thought in a way of delaying partition or partition at all. On 15th August, he was in Calcutta working for peace :)
