**Tickets for the ICC Champions Trophy game between India and Pakistan at Edgbaston on 19 September have all been sold in a single day. **
Seats made available on the internet were snapped up in 30 minutes with the remainder going to post applicants.
International Cricket Council chief Malcolm Speed was delighted.
“As India plays an historic series in Pakistan, it is good to see there is great enthusiasm for this traditonal rivalry in England as well,” he said.
“The ICC Champions Trophy is the only occasion outside the World Cup when all of the world’s top cricket sides are brought together in one competition and this is one of many exciting matches that will take place in the 16-day event.”
It is the first time the tournament has been played in England and matches will also take place at the Rose Bowl in Southampton and The Oval.
And ICC president Ehsan Mani has said England will keep the tournament, even if they pull out of their tour to Zimbabwe which is scheduled for November.
There has been speculation that the ICC could move the tournament to India if the England and Wales Cricket Board does not confirm at its meeting next month.
But Mani said earlier this week: "If England don’t tour Zimbabwe we have processes in place to deal with that.
“They are two separate issues, one has nothing to do with the other.”
The Champions Trophy will be played from 10-25 September and involves all 10 Test-playing countries, plus Kenya and the USA, who recently won the ICC Six Nations Challenge qualifying event.
