Good to see Salman Taseer having an impact beyond his death. His daughter kept up the fight, and played a significant role in reversing efforts to institute blasphemy laws at a global level.

It's a symbolic victory for his kin. She obviously believes in something, and is pursuing it in a peaceful manner. I may not agree with most people in the universe with anything, but achievements must come from non violent hard work.

I think Salman Taseer has been pretty consistent in saying the law itself was bad ('kala qanoon' anyone?), in that it allowed for abuse. Similarly the Human Rights organization that fought this, fought it on the basis that wherever laws like this exist, they have led to egregious abuse and victimization of minorities. Can you point to ANY quote of Taseers that runs contrary to what his daughter spoke of, and what this human rights organization accomplished?

First off theres a difference between arguing that a law leads to systematic abuse of minorities, and 'promoting' blasphemy. At no point did Taseer say lets all do blasphemy on Sunday. And letsalso remember that Qadri and his supporters were not limited to simply claiming that Taseer committed blasphemy. Their 'stance' includes cowardly assassination through terrorism. Do you believe that 'stance' has been validated?
