Since we’ve had two posts already discussing Mughal e Azam and Pakeezah I thought ke chalo meri teesri pasandeedaH movie keliye bhi aik post hona chahiye…Umrao Jaan with
Rekha and Farooq Shaikh and Raj Babbar. Another masterpiece (the cinematography and the real locations are wonderful. Exquisite.)

That movie is a classic, Rekha looked absoluely gorgeous in it, and the songs are timeless.

My fav song is "In aankhon ki masti mein".

Umrao Jaan is his favourite movie too.

Guests that came to the Toronto meet on New Year's Eve had a special treat as one of my friends was kind enough to perform the mujra dance that Rekha did to "Dil cheez kya hai..."

Don't watch too many indian movies, so haven't seen this one either. But I've heard the songs & they were very nice. I did have a chance to see the Pakistani Umrao Jan Adda some 6 months ago, starring late Rani. And her presence just lifted the movie.

both the indian and pakistani versions are superb

But i still think Rani and Shahid did a wonderful job and the pakistani version has better songs then the indian one
