Re: Umpire simulation @ Cricinfo
Quite interesting. I think it drives home the realization that Umpiring is not that at all easy.
Re: Umpire simulation @ Cricinfo
you right... considering the game atmosphere, noise, pressure, and most importantly the use of high end technology by the commentators to critisize the judgment. it all makes it real tough for them.
Re: Umpire simulation @ Cricinfo
Very nice! Creatively used Flash for the creation of this game, which is designed brilliantly. A few modifications from my side would be if the actual gameplay would possibly include the option of sound in future upgrades; furthermore, when a ball is hitting middle-and-leg, it shows only one of the stumps as removed, rather than both. Also, the possibility of a ball hitting somewhere other than the top of the stump would be a useful feature, and full-length yorker deliveries could also be added on the part of the bowler as a variety to the mix.
But yes, quite a good start, nonetheless. Thanks for bringing it forward to us.
I did notice the bowling variations. Full-length deliveries are definitely included, which is good. One thing I did note was during the replay, from the camera angle coming in from behind the stumps, the position of middle stump after being hit by the ball; it always lunges forward rather than going back (as can be seen from the obstruction caused by having a full view of off-stump).

I scored 494 on my first attempt. Got 7 correct decisions out of 10, with an average time of 0.31 seconds.
