Don’t know the whole background. Basically A&B’s changed the name of it’s upcoming drama from “Tikon” to “Aks” which is also the name of Umera Ahmed’s novel. Initially six sigma had a clash with them (i guess they have the rights to Aks) and now Umera Ahmed has made a statement on her FB page:
I am thoroughly disappointed and appalled at the way A&B Productions has changed their upcoming serial on ARY Tikon’s name to Aks to cash in on my current novel’s title. The message is if you fail to buy a book’s adaptation rights, hit below the belt. Some people can do just ANYTHING for fame and ratings and they have no scruples or the word called ‘Professional Ethics’. A wrong tradition has been set and if this is the way our tv industry is going to work then I feel pity for this industry and those producers, directors and writers who are willing to blind and silence their conscience for making hay while the sun shines. I was a Script editor in A&B Productions for a year (March 2011 till January 2012) , Umera ahmed’s popular novel AKS was started in Pakiza Digest in August 2011 and everybody was talking about AKS those days , Sarwat Nazir was writing Siraat e mustaqeem that time , in October or November we received a script named Tikon written by Sarwat nazir , initially my Head Parisa Siddiqi was seeing that script as well I was also seeing that script , after that when Parisa took leave for a month to go abroad in her absence I was looking after the script and talking to the writer Sarwat Nazir as well as per my Boss Babar Javed’s instructions we were discussed so many things about script and storyline that time. I left A&B Productions in January 2012 9 episodes of that serial was completed and Babar told me that he is giving this project to Nadeem Siddique , I remember Babar was not satisfied with some things and after that we merge 2 episodes of Tikon in one. This play was seen by some other script editors after me , and was gone on shoot three and half months before with name of Tikon . I Have heard from so many peoples around that TIKON is on shoot and the Play will replace Ary Digital Play Meri Laadli which is directed by the same director , but suddenly two days back I saw some Teasers of A&B Productions upcoming Play AKS and I was really shocked because the teasers were clearly describing that the Play was TIKON
AKS is one of the most discussed novel of this year in Digests , and it was Officially announced Last Year 2011 that Momina Duraid (Moomal Productions) has taken rights of that novel for Dramatization then how can A&B Productions can cash that name for TIKON
I have heard that writer of A&B Productions AKS is saying that she has completed that project with name of AKS one and half years back with that name (AKS) , I was there at that time and the said project was TIKON at that time , I discussed the name TIKON with the writer and she described me why she named that story TIKON
I remember when Sabz Qadam (A&B Productions Play) was about to be on air A&B Productions wanted to name Project BIN ROYE ANSOO which is a best seller novel of Farhat Ishtiaq but I forced them not to change Manhoos or Sabz Qadam (Suggested names ) to Bin Roye Ansoo
Umera Ahmed and Momina Duraid are planning AKS as one of the Biggest Production of Tv Serial. How can anyone else can cash it and giving statement that they have AKS by Sarwat Nazir from one and half year
Every Person of this media knows that the said production house is a factory of Serials now and making many serials every month then how can it be possible that they gone on shoot of after the delay of one and Half Your

Being a Content Manager of a well known Production house and my experience I can say if the content of the serial is Good , one doesn’t need these kind of cheap tactics , TIKON was perfect name for the script . I wish A&B’s AKS will hit but its not the right way to cash any one title for so called TRPS
Let me clear u Original AKS will always remains AKS , and Umera is writing it amazingly , she is doing wonders and Momna Duraid is going to make it more bigger then before

they tried to take advantage of the fact that Umera is a very private person who shys away from the media. they prob weren't expecting her to react at all.
Probably so Dooree plus she has worked with Baber Javed in the past and I would have to say that BJ's claim to fame were Umera's writings. So they were probably not expecting her to react at all.
But I am glad both UA and Farhat Ishtiaq have spoken out against this unethical behavior.
I think people need to boycott A&B production plays until they openly apologize.
How unprofessional, just because A&B could not get rights to 'AKS' and since momina got it instead, they tried this underhanded tactic to downplay this future project by hum tv. As if stealing a title will bring them the same viewership, please grow up A&B
What about Momina never acknowledging Salama kanwal for Pani Jaisa Pyar, which was totally based on her novel 'Suhaagan'?

yeah that was very unfortunate. I understand that when they produced the drama they may not have known, but once it went on air everyone instantly recognized the plagiarism and posted on the fb page and youtube videos. At that point, they should have given credit to the original writer ,issued an apology and done whatever else needed to be done.
