Congratulations! It takes about 3-4 days for your milk to come in, until then, it's just colostrum which is really all baby needs. Keep him latched on properly and sucking, that is what will stimulate milk production and help your let down.

he problem is that i am.not allowed to hold him yet .so he has only tired the breast once and that was an hour after being born. Ever since then he has not experienced the lachting. I am hand expressing and hardly any colostrum comes out. I try every 3 hours.
update:
my baby boy is still in special care baby unit (scbu). it has been 10 days now. I am very tired and almost am giving up. He was admitted for respiratory issues but has now recovered MA and is off the incubator and in a cot since the past 2 days. We are now establishing breastfeeding. I have loads of milk for him that is dripping down like a tab but he wont latch. he tries but he gets frustrated so quickly and they creams his head off. I wont be allowed home until he latches on properly. I have tried breastfeeding him a total of 8 times so far and he latched on twice only for 5 mins each.
I am almost giving up, i want my baby home, so i can take care of him the whole day and also i want to rest.
Wow, which country is this that they are not letting you go home until he latches on? Its good though that the hospital cares so much about breastfeeding etc. Here, in the U.S. health insurance makes things so expensive.
Do you have a local La Leche Leauge and also a lactation consultant at the hospital? They can be really good resources.
Sorry you are having such a tough time. If latch is an issue the health carers should be helping you. LA LA leache are excellent. Also try seeing a lactation consultant or an experienced midwife. I had this issue too and I saw as many people as I could. One midwife finally cracked it for me.
You might already be doing this but hold baby from neck and not directly hold head. Bring then close to breast and wait for the mouth to open wide. Once you see that get baby to latch. It is very very tough at the Begin ning but once you are shown how to do it correctly it will.get so better. I also found YouTube videos useful.
Also if you choose to use formula it is a very good option and don't feel guilty about it. lots of babies do perfectly well on formula and it will also give you a break. You could try a mix of formula and expressing. Hope baby is home with you soon
