I often hear this…“what’s the point of studying…just get ur Bachelors (or ur bachelors is enough) and get over with it already. You are gonna end up getting married, having kids and staying home anyway…time and effort wasted”
Education is important ... cause that gets reflected in the upbringing of the kids ..
my philosophy is ... when I am selecting a boy for my daugter .. not only that guy needs to be educated ... but at least one of his parent should be well educated person ....
lolll iv’e heard that one before… oh and another is “dont study too much, you being more educated then other men, it’ll give 'em a complex and hence reduce your chances of marriage!”
There's no dearth of PhDs in the world who need some 'education'.

It's like punishing the young man for not being able to educate his parents. :D But I have observed that generally there's a difference between the outlook of an educated person from an educated family and that of a person who can be equally educated but comes from a not so educated family.
@ post #1: Yea i don't get it either. I know some people, ok A LOT of people, in Pakistan who have kiryane kii dukaan, kaproN ki dukaan, Departmental store etc etc and if you ask them why their children are at store and not in school, you'll get the following answer "Bass jee parh liya jitna parhna tha. Ab larka zara dukaan pe kaam karey aur apna karobaar sambhaaley. Aakhir issi ne yeh business chalana hai"
Ahem, hello??? What if, God forbid, business doesn't run tomorrow. The second name of business is "risk". When you are educated, you learn to move on with the world and progress and learn manners and ethics which you possibly cannot learn standing at a store and selling cotton clothes. I am not saying you shouldn't do business but atleast get your education first.
^ Precisely, I have two cousins who work on their Dad's business back home, however both were made to at least get a BCom before they started helping out in the business.
i thought so that we are educated lot and that we do care about education not merely to be able to make so much or so much more money, but also to improve our minds and our behaviors.
thanks all, this is really assuring.
best,
