hello all,
at approx 20 weeks the dr. can tell in an ultrasound if your having a boy or a girl.
how accurate is this?
I’m having a baby girl inshallah, but i’m just wondering what they saw (or didn’t see~!) that concluded that? what if the baby was a boy and was turned away, something… would they assume that since they didn’t see that part that it was a girl…?
I’m guessing that female organs (like the overies) are developed by then and show up on the ultrasound…?
the technician will be able to tell only if the baby is not breech. in my case when my anomaly scan took place my baby was breech so they couldn't tell. :(
The u/s does not show the baby's ovaries. They can often tell the lines that indicate female genitalia, but male genitalia is obviously more obvious. :D
At 17.5 weeks they said they were 70% certain we were having a girl. After that she refused to give us a good view. We had a girl!
hey congrts on ur baby girl... u seem to b in denial just like me.. i dun blame u. not that i didnt want a girl... i love girls... its just that my ILs were always talkin abt boys and nothin abt girls made me feel so pressurised. just yesteday they were askin my hubs abt names for boys and no mention of girls name AT ALL! i was soooo offended endin up cryin. anyway long story short it mst b true ure havin a girl cus week 20 + the doc can b pretty mch sure of the gender. enjoy ur pregnancy and dun stress too mch abt it. ive spend nites crying and crying when i know i shudnt. dun put stress on urself n baby.
We are also having a girl, we are ecstatic alhamdulillah, i prayed shukarane ki nafl when I found out. Girls are a big blessing, inshAllah can't wait to meet my princess.
Allah swt has given you a beautiful gift, accept it with open arms and say thanks to Him, there is no difference between a boy and girl as long as the child is healthy that's all you should be worrying about.

I'm having a baby girl inshallah, but i'm just wondering what they saw (or didn't see~!) that concluded that? what if the baby was a boy and was turned away, something.... would they assume that since they didn't see that part that it was a girl....?
..
When they did the ultrasound did the technician not show you your baby's genitals? At 20 weeks, with the latest U/S technology the results are pretty accurate. Be happy you're blessed with a girl, they're an adorable gift...I'd love to have one...InshAllah.
I had my ultrasound at 24 weeks and they said I was having a girl....I was ecstatic!...shopped like crazy...but turns out they got it wrong...and I had a baby boy...and that's when the technician told me that the scan is 95% accurate!
I think all that matters is Allah blesses us with healthy kids...there's nothing more important than that...

I'm not stressing out abt it... i personally don't care if its a boy or a girl... i just want a healthy baby inshallah. My inlaws are sort of the same way... they were expecting a boy from the begining. I've told them its a girl and they are OK with it... but sometimes i still detect a hint of disappointment.
My family on the other hand is estatic that its a girl.. infact my brother and sister were hoping it would be a girl... :o) go figure.
I truly beleive that even being pregnant is a blessing.... these preferences of boys over girls is just ridiculous (in my opinon). But most families in pakistan are like that... its just the culture i guess. And anyways, girls are a true blessing.
congrats to all of you who are have a baby (boy OR girl).
