I just wanted to ask how accurate the due date provided by an ultrasound scan is.

hmmmm.. its fairly accurate in terms for your husband to book vacation time off, half week before and after..
but then as the date approaches, or even the day approaches, u cant really tell ... cuz paints havent started or water didnt break.. u knowww..

Ultrasound date are very accurate in determining wot age the fetus(baby) is, but you can never be sure of the expected date of delivery! if everything goes alright then give or take 1 week(10days) either way.
i hope youve taken lots folic acid!!!

We don't go by the ultra sound to figure out the due date here in USA. They usually go by the lmp. But a due date is just an estimate. The baby could come two weeks early two weeks late or a few days late. Whenever she feels she is ready. :)

me n my sister both found taht the ultrasound date was a better guide for us compared to the LMP!!! but they usually shud be pretty close neway!!!!

^^ Oh wow that's interesting. When they did my ultrasound, they only checked the baby's organs.

Generally the due date is quite accurate. The actual birth date is mostly within 2 weeks of the date they indicate to you at the time of the ultra-sound.
Our son was 10 days late. :)

Not sure why you asked the question, but just FYI, I once read a statistic that only about 5% of the babies are born on exactly the due date. Most are born before or after. So if the intent is to figure out the general time frame of expected birth, then it is pretty useful, but if you plan to take out a zodiac chart for the exact date of birth to identify the personality traits of the baby, then it all depends on the little fella, as to when s/he wants to come out.

Well, BV according to our studies.. it varies from subject to subject. But keep one thing in your mind if your consultant says (Suppose) 23rd March. You should be ready by 10th March. It would be between 20-31 march and in some cases it goes after that.. About two weeks max.
Tips.

Take good amount of food..especially fresh fruit (I used to say my patients , to take one bowl of fruit after 6 hours)

Take liquids as well.

Prepare baby bag by now and keep it on some visible place.

Let know about your pain to your doctorā¦
there two types of pain one is called consistent pain and other is called interval pain. So watch it whether it is constant pain or interval pain.
- Rest and relax.. and feel your baby home.

Here in England between 10-12 weeks or when ever you find out youre pregnant.. you get sent for a dating scan - so the ultrasound determines exactly how old your foetus is to the exact day.. your next scan at 20 weeks checks the babys organs are developing fine. the head is measured, the body, the arms and legs are checked, the brain.. etc.

u/s date is more accurate than the LMP b/c the LMP dates the baby assuming that everyone ovulates on day 14 and conception occures day 14ā¦
But like others have said, it just gives the āgestationalā age of the babyā¦it doesnāt tell you when the baby will decide to be born.
