DC wallay have these traffic radars in place. I’ve already paid two tickets $50 each. That’s exuberant.
The other day I dropped off a friend and headed back home, got lost and ended up on some godforsaken land. Finally I gave up and called my friend who gave me the directions back. While I was passing by a particular junction, suddenly some bijli-like light flashed. For a moment I thought of the thunder, or the sound or the fury or plain simple tulla but then I realized there was no cop car behind and weather was in fact surprisingly pleasant. So I stopped at the next red light and this dude stopped in the next lane, honked at me, rolled down his sheesha and said, “you know you got a ticket right?” It then suddenly dawned in the manner thunder had flashed! ullu kay pathay had camera and radar in place there! I’ve not received the ticket yet but I’m sure it’s in the mail.
In another story, I got ticketed for driving 60 miles/hr in a 50 mph zone. 60 in a 50??? Does this even remotely make any sense? There should not even be a 50 mph zone. It should either be 40 or 60. 50 and 60 are too close together. No one drives at 50.
I’ve seen people driving in that zone where I got my ticket from. Seems like everyone is getting ticket from that spot. They just drag there now. You’re driving coming all the way at 60-65 and suddenly you see cars easing down. They all look like zombies on 50-52 mph speed with all the khali saRak in front. They know until they pass that overhead bridge they’re under the radar.
Our lives are descending into some kind of a communal trance in DC traffic. This gotta stop!
what kind of hypocricy is this? FG, I love you like a brother, but you are one ullu ka patha. “Son of a bitch” is not allowed but “ullu ka paTha” is? Sexist MF’s.
It should not be a matter if it is 50 or 60, you should be able to adjust yourself.
The idea of covering license plate with diffusing lens plastic plate is not gonna help much. Licensing authorities can easily detect that plate by converting the image into its negative image. The light reflecting crystal spray problem can be cured by using a device that uses infrared sensors instead of the flash or red lights.
We are working on a cheap, side project in which a small radar can be installed in cars that can read the speed limit on board and can beep you if you are crossing that limit with a +10% tolerance. Till now the only problem is in reading the board because these are plain painted numbers and are not embossed like they are on the license plates for easy scanning.
The Automated Plate Number Recognition (ANPR) devices photograph vehicles and then use optical character recognition (OPR) to extract license plate numbers.
They should have dynamic speed limits based on weather, traffic conditions and neighborhood.
Roman is right that it often look bizzare that on an empty street, with no side-walks, no residential neighborhood, a motorist is forced to go at 45 or 50, just because in their worst case scenario a traffic engineer thought that by putting that speed limit, his own arse is gonna be safe.
Just as they have dynamic controls for Car Pool lanes, the speed limits should be varied on different times of the day, depending upon traffic patterns and other surroundings. That way, we will have motorists spending less time on the street, and thereby, less environmental pollution, less gas consumption, less irritable drivers and less time wasted on people complaining about speeding tickets.
Irem You tell em’
They think putting the car on drive and hitting the gas pedal is driving. I say, anyone who can drive in Pakistan can drive anywhere on this Planet.
hey maha
kidaan
yea man, driving in pakistan is REAL driving :k: baaki sab its all jus a childs game, koi char saal ka bacha bhee chala le amreeka mein gaari
Come on, Ive been hearing that since I was 12…when I first took my dads car & I didnt find anything so mundanely difficult.
There are various levels of driving…
Basic - All u know is stop & go.
Intermediate - Avoiding crashes. After a few bangs, u get it into ur head that rash driving is not good at all
Advanced - Practicing ur skills on a professional track & perfecting the art of manoeuvring & advanced stop & go
Xpert - 360s, 180s, reverse 180s, burnouts, 2 wheel flips, advanced parallel parking, using ur creative skills in every way possible to be da best of the best. What u can possibly do in every scenario to avoid a bad accident. All these things cannot be attained with trial & error, u have to practice them out in a controlled enviornment
