In Urdu, it is widely use when you do stupid things and your parents calls you Ullo Ka Phatha/Pagal ka Bacha etc etc. What they are calling you is not what they intended but in literal sense they are cursing themselves.

It was and still big no no in our family,even if we sibling call each other pagal parent always got angry.
