UK+US perspective of India, Pakistan compared to others in the region
I see there are many myths being spread around Pakistan, India and Pak’s role in the region. Here is a quick summary of how UK and US (UKUS) interact with India and Pakistan.
Why UKUS don’t want India and Pakistan to fight with each other? It is simple. Both India and Pakistan are major powers and they have to play a role in the region.
India
UKUS view India as a state responsible for keeping peace in the Indian ocean and South East Asia. This is almost like Indians get outsourcing of regional police for their “alloted” area.
Counter weighting China is an old theory that went through the window when the whole Chinese nation became cheap laborers and outsourcing destination for the WalMart.
India has faithfully handled its responsibilities in the Indian Ocean. In fact recent deployment of Indian navy around Somalia is a clear effort by Indians to get more outsourcing for their navy.
Pakistan
UKUS view Pakistanis for outsourcing police duties and responsibility for keeping peace on its “Western” borders and in the Arabian Sea. We handled our responsibilities faithfully until 1990s. Then we became too much Islamized and started forgetting that Pakistan and Pakistan’s regional role comes first and Islam comes second. As a result we are paying a heavy price in FATA. This is our own mistake, and we’ll come out of it once the Pakistani society and military is cleansed of Islamist generals (both active and retired).
India trying to get the outsourcing in Pakistani sphere
Right now India is slowly encroaching on the “police” outsourcing in Pakistani sphere. We must be aggressive to keep India out by doing a better job on our Western border and in the Arabian sea. We should have tried to get the naval outsourcing for Somalia. However we are too confused at the moment. So Indians took it.
Pakistanis must step up and get the outsourcing for Afghanistan and Central Asia before Indians outbid us in that area as well.
Myths about Indian and Pakistani Nukes
The reason why Indians and Pakistanis have historically received outsourcing for regional police, the UKUS practically gave the nukes away to both Pakistan and India. None of them was dragged through dung of international sanctions the way some other countries are being put through.
This regional outsourcing is the reason why UKUS treat Indians and Pakistanis different from Iran and other pipsqueaks.
p.s I can already see that some people settled in UKUS would jump up and down against Pakistan’s role in the region. Funny that these posters would rather clean toilets (nothing wrong with it. Job is a job), and yet heavens would fall if Pakistani government plays pro-West role.
