I am just feeling like a dork for following the show . Coz all the top candidates got fired coz of their business plans . Average candidates with the best business plans have made it to the final !
Here I am thinking does ability really matter? if its just the business plan that matters why even take the candidates through hell through all that intensive screening process .
Well I think the shift from candidate performance to strength of business plan is nothing new since the format of the show changed.
However, I want to know who these 'top candidates' are? Surely you don't mean Richard? He has been riding on the success of his marketing pm victory and his only other skill is manipulating situations and other people. A lot of his winning tasks were down to a good team, not because he contributed anything substantial.
I don't really like Vana but no one can deny that she's very capable and accomplished and we've seen her skills in the latter tasks. Joseph, unlike Richard has actually worked really hard throughout and been the voice of common sense a lot of the time, rather than an expert BSer. He reminds me of Tre from years ago. So while his performance may not have been any more outstanding than the others, when you put that together with the fact that he has a successful business and credible business plan, it's not strange that he's in the final.
I don't understand why they did not check the business plan earlier?
Vana has a personality but her idea of dating app would fail for sure. I really wanted Richard to stay. So glad,Charline is out, whoever wins now I don't care but i really wanted her to get out.
The final and you are hired ---> It is going to be Joseph tonight, Wohooo!
yup I thought Richard was a very strong candidate too , if it wasnt for the business interest conflict , I am dead sure he would have made it to the top. I could tell Lord Sugar liked him too and we have seen him take control of things and walk to the victory .
Vana was very very irritating , I hardly ever saw her doing something great in any tasks other than that selling property task. Also I believe she was the key reason why that Chips task failed but I dont know why she was let off the hook.
But yes Joseph worked very very hard and remained very consistent all through and his win is most certainly very well deserved .
I think you guys have missed a lot of the nuance concerning Richard. He's good at marketing and that includes marketing himself. He got rumbled during the interviews when one of the interviewers asked if there was anything behind all the BS. Not sure if you watched the episode profiling the five remaining candidates but he comes from a wealthy family with a successful businessman for a father. He would have had plenty of opportunity and access to investment to achieve something big already if he was really capable of it. He reminds me of some of those private school educated city boys who love the sound of their own voice.
stoppit, I saw all the episodes. I agree that Richard did act like a goofball occasionally and he wasnt the most popular candidate in the audience but honestly he is the kind of people we see around who are making it big in the business world . Joseph , no doubt that he has won the process but seemed like an ordinary person when it came to the business world , all his campaigns were very ordinary as well. While Richard did that a very creative edge .
I strongly believe had it not been for the business conflict, Richard would have made a very strong candidate .
what's more important?
a good business plan that is executed by mediocre talent or
good talent executing a mediocre business plan?
A brilliant question Muzna.
When one is operating in a cut throat industry, mediocre talent executing a good business plan will fail in most cases , unless they are handheld by someone very experienced and coached through .
But , a sparky and a brilliant talent will more or less have the ability to turn around a mediocre business and quickly pick up an opportunity to take the business to the next level with slight coaching.
@Midnight, I couldnt agree more. Yes , the quality of the candidates has dropped immensely , they really need to do something about it .
