UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

BBC, 18 July 2005

More than 500 British Muslim religious leaders and scholars have issued a fatwa in response to the London bombs.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

don't hold your breath for this making headlines..

on the other hand, if that intelligence asset Bakri says something.. it's bound to be heard across the world..

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Did these 500 scholars issue fatwa against Blairs War on Iraq also?

//Did these 500 scholars issue fatwa against Blairs War on Iraq also?//

Correct me if I am wrong. Isnt a fatwa specific to muslims. AK why do you have to look at everything through the "War on Iraq" syndrome.

Are you saying that these 500 scholars wrong in issuing a fatwa against these suicide bombers. Knowing you, I would'nt be surprised if you said a "yes" to the question !!!

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Rash guy do some research on topic of fatwas and then comment i am not here to do your homework. Speak with knowledge not ignorance!

as for speaking with a view on war on iraq or palestine or any other issue when you are being hypocrite it should be pointed out and not for person to keep quite about it.

My point was that fatwa is applicable only to muslims.Rest of the world cares two hoots for the same. When you call others a hypocrite look at yourself first... You have no qualms about staying in a country which has laws that you hate and spread venom on...

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

obviously you have’nt done your own homework on fatwas becuase you have no clue about them, secondly you said you have no interest or as you put it you dont give 2 hoots if thats the case don’t comment on them

and finally which country am i stayng in oh not so wise one? i think you should have listened to my commet in my first reply about speaking with knowledge instead of using your emotion.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

AK do you really think before you type. What I said was that it would not have made a difference if the mullahs had issued a fatwa to Blair and co...While a fatwa to the suicide bombers would really make a difference (hopefully!!!)
My point was about you calling everybody else a hypocrite.
Please read what you write before you hit the post button.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

listen rash by name and rash by nature fatwa needs to be legal in the first place secondly fatwa or no fatwa that would'nt stop anyone doing what happened.

if as it is alleged that the 4 guys did it according to british intellegence the same intellegence that produce 1000 lies to justify iraq invasion then everybody already knows you cannot bombs city to attack civillians.

So your call has no reality to at all.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Good for those leaders.

Good for my ears to hear.

Tired of hawkishness directed toward muslim speakers....

especially by the beloved..

" fair and balanced"

Fox.

IMHO.......MSNBC bowtie journalist behaved in a rather holier-than-thou manner ....

interviewing a Muslim speaker after London train bombing....

Bowtie kept insinuating ...

Practically accusing....

"Muslim leaders never speak or condemn acts of terror..."

Muslim leader reply was pretty much on the order of...

' actions taken by some do not define muslims as a whole".....so why the need to even acknowledge those kind of acts?

...basically the muslim speaker position was that acts of violence against innocents are not an ideal that majority of muslims follow... questioning.. (I think) why??? he be taken to task for something he wasn't responsible for.

I think West wants an all out condemnation of deliberate targeting of civilians.

I think East wants apology and acknowledgement of responsibilty for policies follwed that have had harmful results.

Sounds so easy....

ok...

I blather.

Idea for positive P.R.

Send mailings....Put adds in major newspapers including signatory of leaders promoting fatwa against targeting civilians.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Yup and a fatwa from Bush against targeting civilians too. He’ll lose a sh it load of money over it though and have to pull out of two countries he’s invaded, guess there’s little chance of that though huh.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

^ Nope, not till they learn to behave themselves. But where is US targeting civilians?

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

you are right, US doesn’t target civilians, its that civilians should’ve watched out for those bombs falling from sky.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Ah, yes, I forgot. Islam has perfected everything, including warfare and how to avoid all civilian causualties.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Last time I asked you question where “innocent civilians” died in ‘spread of Islam’ you ran away, can you tell us that part of history here?

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

I’m not running away, I am trying to be a gracious guest.

:google: and discover on your own. No warfare is ever without civilian causualties. And sometimes it is even intentional.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

a very good step by muslim leaders in Uk to show the terrorist scum that we will not let their barabarism define us and that we will take a stand and condemn them and their actions. I am glad that media has covered it.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Pir Sahib, right now this stand looks like a "saikal stand" at Qaddafi stadium after the match. The need to do much more than talk.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

Dear Thap,

Why don’t we spread the word???

The consequences are severe for those who attempt to deliberately harm a civilian.

Re: UK Muslims issue bombings fatwa

A very good step but one with limited impact, as Iqbal Sacranie and other muslim spokesman look too much like bin Laden and I’m not sure that the British public will feel any safer as a result.

We need the media to help by focusing less on fringe loonies like Bakri Mohammed and more on ordinairy British muslims. We can do more obviously, but I would say the makers of the programme Pakistani Actually did far more for us than muslim leaders in Britain ever could.
