Re: UK MP under fire for walking out of muslim wedding
**Nosherwan, I really don't think most Muslim and non-Muslim men are in favour of segregated weddings, it's still pretty rare. I really don't know many men that have a problem with their wives/gfs just talking to a member of the opposite sex as long as it doesn't cross the line. I do think segregated weddings are a good idea tho for girls who wear hijab or niqaab and want to let their hair down and really enjoy themselves (tho of course us Desis still can't get away with wearing skimpy dresses the way Arab Muslim women do at their segregated weddings). Each to their own. I do think the MP should have been told in advance, tho, that the wedding was going to be segregated so he could decide if he wanted to attend or not. Couples might feel uncomfortable being seperated, esp if they don't know many ppl at the wedding.
I once went to a wedding where the bride herself was v.liberal but her sister wore full niqaab, I did feel really bad for her having to keep it on the whole way thru, eating with it on etc. Was surprised the wedding hadn't been segregated for her sake.
Sorry post is in bold, I can't seem to get rid of it :(
