well my brother has been in UK for last 5years on a dependent RP of his wife, now he needs to change his visa to ILR. Does anyone know the process time, like how soon can he get his ILR? In other words, how long he’ll have to wait to get his ILR from the time of submission of his application?
It generally depends on how complete all the information is and how straightforward it is to check. You can even do the fast track (same day) application which is £200 on top of the usual application fee but it requires that the caseworker can make the decision on the stop - it should be clear that the applicant has been supporting himself and will continue to do so.
Me and my husband applied for his ILR and we got all our papers and passports (his with the ILR stamp) exactly a month after.
However, one girl i know whose husband applied, after 6 months she received a letter saying she hadn't signed the cheque, she signed it and sent it back and her husband then got his ILR a week later. I'm guessing then if all your papers are in order and everything is there, you're more likely to have a quicker response, plus our case was pretty straightforward i think.
Oh and a week or so after you apply, they send you a letter confirming they've received your papers.
