UK couple injured in Tobago attack

**A British couple have been seriously injured in a machete attack in Tobago, the Foreign Office has said.**Peter Greene, 65, and his wife Miriam, 59, who are originally from Reading in Berkshire, were attacked on Saturday.

They were airlifted to a regional medical centre in Trinidad, where they are receiving treatment.

It is thought the couple have been living in the town of Bacolet on Tobago’s southern coast on and off for the past 10 years.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We can confirm two British nationals have been hospitalised after the attack in Tobago and we are providing consular assistance.”

Police are investigating the attack.
