Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

A great away performance by Chelsea, credit to the referee for being calm and collective and letting the game flow, although Barcelona are currently placed third, i do see them getting the results they need from their last 2 games to qualify for the next stage.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

An easy win for Liverpool who also qualify for the next stage, they may be performing poor in the league but their performances in the CL have been good.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Hello? Were we watching the same match? How come Referre letting the game flow when he shows 11 yellow cards most of those he could have avoided?

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Was it a good goal or a freak one? I think he was attempting to cross the ball not trying to score.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Real, Lyon, Milan all have qualified.

ManU were beaten by Copenhegan in a major upset last night. Though they fielded a second string side. So their progress to the next round is halted for now.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Bloody hell.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

^ ManUtd beaten again :hehe:

Seriuosly they kinda suck in europe these days. Dont take me wrong. I want them to qualify in knockout stages because they are a big club and have fantastic players but they are somewhat weird playing in europe.

Real-Lyon match was absolutely superb to watch. entertaining 2-2 draw ensures Lyon finishes top of group and deservedly so. They have been the best team in the league so far. Hope they go beyound quarters this time around.

Arsenal Porto and CSKA moscow are locked in a three horse race. Last match day should decide who goes through.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Not a good day for Man Utd. I'm not amused, though they have been playing well in the league lately. Perhaps Saha needs his nerves checked.

Even though we played for the most part our normal 11(proof positive that Evra pwns Heinze right now, we missed Evra's runs up the left side today IMO) we weren't truly playing all out. We were missing the attacking bite that we usually play with in league.

Plus I thought Ronaldo despite a few great flashes, wasn't as aggressive as he normally is.

PS. Shoulda played Fletcher instead of Carrick. Man knows how to play Scottish football.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

^ Carrick is a useless purchase from summer.

Chelsea were beaten by Bremen 1-0 away from home. That leaves Barca in a must win match against Bremen to qualify. They missed Lampard but Ballack was really poor somehow. Shevchenko and him are yet to get in chelsea groove.

Roma is also in trouble as they will need to win against valencia at home to qualify. Tough prospects. Liverpool once again won and topped the group easily. InterMilan finally manged to secure win after a good win against sporting lisbon. They are on a roll and will be really tough to beat come next rounds.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

all the einsteins missed this weeks action? :)

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Hell no… I follow MU like no body else.

Take that, Benfica

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

hehehe, all the major teams were already through to the second round, apart from Barca…but they managed too thanks to a dinho-show.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

yeah but the gunners porto draw was very dodgy wasn't it?

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

^i didn't see it, from what I heard especially Arsenal were just playing up time.

However, I'm looking forward to next round's draw, because basically all the big guns got through....so there could be some mout-watering contest waiting us

ps: too bad, Juventus isn't in the line-up

ps2: this is the first time 4 clubs from 1 country topped their groups: ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Like always, knockout stage has some really mouth watering encounters none better than winners of last two years i.e. Liverpool - Barcelona

Here is the list of the draw made this friday.

Porto v Chelsea
Celtic v AC Milan
PSV Eindhoven v Arsenal
Lille v Manchestar United
Roma v Lyon
Barcelona v Liverpool
Real Madrid v Bayern Munich
Inter Milan v Valencia

Real - Bayern and Inter- Valencia are particularly the ones to look out for. Cant wait for feb.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

...for me, Lyon are a team you'd one to avoid, they have been a breath of fresh air in the CL for the last 2 seasons and are currently playing great football at present.

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Last nights results

Real Madrid : Bayern Munich 3-2
PSV : Arsenal 1-0
Lille: ManU 0-1
Celtic : Ac Milan 0-0

Real and Bayern Match was such an exciting match. Beckham was at his best after a long time and the match was way intense. Great match.

Tonight Liverpool go to Barcelona. What a classic encounter. Last two CL winners. whoaa!

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Liverpool won deserving against Barca. Cant find for the Match in Lieverpool

Re: Uefa Champions League 2006-07

Liverpool really outclassed Barca. Initially Barca were on top but liverpool absorbed the pressure and then mounted their own. Barca's keeper is a joke. He has let them down so many times in crucial matches.

Chelsea drew against Porto away from home with Shevchenko having a marvellous game. Hope he continues his form.
