I used to use ubtan, it does exfoliate because it has rough texture, I wont rub it in the skin.
I used to make a paste with water and milk and leave it for 10 min or so that the ingredients soften a bit and then apply to the face in circular motion, then massage in the skin very softly for 4-5 minutes and leave it to dry, after it dries on the skin then wet hands with water and did circular thing again to exfoliate the skin and then wash it off. It did my leave my skin very soft and nicely fragrant.
The most common ubtans have dried orange skin peel + sandlewood powder + haldi + powdered almond + besan/chick pea flour + few other herb. I tried making my own ubtan, it is as good as store bought or even better actually. People who have acne or sensitive skin should be careful in case they breakout or end up causing more damage than good, but for arm, hands, legs and feet it does wonders.
I dont like the yellow color it imparts so when I used to make my own ubtan I used to ignore or put a pinch of turmeric/haldi in mine for skin health benefits.
Good luck. Which brand are you planning to use if any??
