UAE, Turkey betrayed India?
WikiLeaks exposes how UAE and Turkey betrayed India to appease Pakistan. According to the revelations, the cables show that Turkey purposely kept India out of a summit on Afghanistan earlier this year to appease Pakistan. UAE’s crown prince Mohammed Bin Zayed referred to as MBZ in the cables was supporting the US decision to sell F-16 aircrafts to Pakistan to keep a balance of strength between India and Pakistan.
This particular cable shows how Mohammed Bin Zayed, the crown prince supported of F16 to Pakistan. He says that while the Indians had and would continue to balk at the decision, the region needed Musharraf to stay strong. Besides, he continued, the F16 decision would not tip the military balance between India and Pakistan.
And this cable states that India was purposely left out of an Afghan meet in Istanbul to appease Pakistan. The cable shows that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had requested President Gul’s assistance with Pakistan during the latter’s visit to New Delhi the previous week. Acting on that request, Gul had phoned Pakistani President Zardari, who was skeptical of Indian intentions.
And Turkey has reacted cautiously. They have said that they will wait to see the entire WikiLeaks report in order to react to the latest expose.
