UAE - Medication restrictions?

Does Abu Dhabi or Dubai have any restrictions on what medicines you are allowed to bring into the country?

I only ask cause I remember reading an article a while back on a woman who was arrested for having Tylenol 3 on her (as it has codeine). My mother is fairly ill and has to take regular medications, so I need to know if we are going to run into any problems.

Any advice willl be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: UAE - Medication restrictions?

codeine is illegal unless you have a prescription from doctor or something saying so it is for medicinal use.

Re: UAE - Medication restrictions?

No prescription medicine is illegal in Dubai if u can prove that its been prescribed by Doctor. I think thats ur mother's case, so nothing to worry about.

Re: UAE - Medication restrictions?

Everything is from the pharmacy and has labels on it. Would this suffice?

Re: UAE - Medication restrictions?

^ to be safe, I'd get a copy of the doctor's prescription to go along with it.

Pharmacies in the Emirates don't use the same type of labels and I don't know if the customs person would be familiar with them.
