**UAE gifts $50Mln for Modern Hospital in Pakistan **
The President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has announced $50 million for the construction of a modern hospital in Islamabad. He made the announcement at the conclusion of his talks with President General Pervez Musharraf, the Ambassador Ali Mohammad Al-Shamsi said in a statement. “The money is a gift to the people of Pakistan, a token of his
affection to Pakistan,” he said. He said the hospital will be of latest designs and will be equipped with the state of the art medical equipment. The hospital will meet the increasing needs of the inhabitants of the capital and the surrounding areas for better medical care, the Ambassador said. Al-Shamsi said this vital project will be carried out in coordination with the Pakistani authorities concerned, adding that UAE would supervise all the stages of construction. He said hospital construction will start soon with the latest technology in medical sector. He said the project will be named as Sheikh Khalifa Hospital.
Economic Cooperation
The Ambassador Al-Shamsi while giving a briefing about talks betweenthe UAE President Sheikh Khalifa and President Pervez Musharraf said that the two leaders underlined the need for enhanced economic cooperation. The two leaders stressed that the available opportunities for investment in various sectors should be channelized. They also discussed variety of issues including bilateral relations and regional as well as international issues of mutual interest. The Ambassador Al-Shamsi said that the UAE side in the talks pledged to encourage the private sector to come forward to benefit from the investment environment in Pakistan adding that delegations will be visiting Islamabad soon in this respect. Al-Shamsi said the Government of UAE will soon call the 9th session of the joint ministerial commission between UAE and Pakistan to implement the resolutions of the last session and revitalize the committee.
