I think this issue is way overblown.

Think about this. If USA "knowingly and willingly" gave weapons to Taliban then the following scenario would have happened.

  1. Taliban would have been able to shoot down Pak helicopters and planes.
    ---- Remember US WEAPONS like stingers helped defeat Commies in Af.

  2. Taliban would have been able surround the Pak army

How many of you say that Taliban had "USA supplied weapons" that made a difference in the Swat ops?

The answer is zero, zilch, Nada.

The reality is that only Pak army has the "USA supplied weapons" including helicopters, planes, bombs, and rockets. And these weapons have blown the @r$es of Taliban as the whole world can see.
