US weapons being used against Pak forces: Military

ISLAMABAD: The military on Friday said US weapons stolen from Afghanistan were being used against security forces in Swat and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).**While speaking to Dawn, military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas said the terrorists in FATA and Swat were getting material and financial support through the Afghan border and alleged that some hostile foreign agencies were abetting them.
Answering a question about the assertions over the security of strategic assets of Pakistan, he said the United States should stop worrying about the nukes and start thinking about the weapons lost in Afghanistan.
‘We are not surprised if these weapons slip out from Afghanistan and many of them are found in Swat and are being used against our troops’, he remarked.
Giving details on the progress of operation Rahe Rast, he said security forces have recovered a huge quantity of looted and stolen food items and a cache of arms including 12.7 mm guns from four tunnels discovered during search and cordon operations in Peochar.
He said that the food items recovered from tunnels were apparently stolen and looted as these were otherwise not locally available.
He said the packing of the food items also shows that they were part of relief goods meant to reach the people stranded in the areas where the military operation against militants was taking place.
General Athar Abbas said the security forces continued with cordon and search operation and successfully cleared the stronghold of miscreants at Peochar village.
He said that forces have secured Bahrain and the area was under their complete control.
General Athar Abbas also said that 28 miscreants were killed and seven were apprehended in various areas of Swat during exchange of fire, while five soldiers and two civilians were injured.
The military spokesman said cordon and search operations were still continuing in Mingora.
Nato/US forces better get to work and fast and recover the stolen weapons. Pakistan cannot and should not have to fight their war for them with their enemies using their stolen weapons being used against an “Ally”.
American failure being spread onto Pakistan. I hope and wish GoP will make all the noise possible and shove back a little for dignity sake and tell the Americans to “do more” for once. Their failure cannot be owned by Pakistan.

Thanks for the share. It's a good news though as they (GoP) are at least admitting it that the weaponry used against Pakistan is American made but in my view, articles like this are part of the process of "grooming" the American people for Pakistan being the next front into which the American military must expand after Iraq and Afghanistan "... to save Pakistan from itself."

^ i think there is a mix in what we put udner taliban. some of them are misguided under religious zeal, others seeking vendetta and some in it for money. point is who are they aided by? and who covers their ass?

I read it somewhere in the news that India is investing 26billion dollars in the destabilization of Pakistan and there are hardcore evidences of that both in Swat and Baluchistan but question now is, people are dying of hunger in India and they can't invest that much on their own, whose support India have in this dirty game?

Who covers their ass? We do, as in the pakistani establishment, army and society. We only grudgingly want to do an operation against them and that too is being opposed in the usual circles. Did you read the news story, how muslim khan, fakri m, and a host of other top talib commanders were having chai/biscuit with ex-malakand commissioner in the official residence with FC and army right outside just a week before the operation? I only wish an American drone would have leveled that building then and there and saved so many lives and refugees.
Most of these weapons have been stolen in Pakistan during transit to Afghanistan !!! Pakistan army should have taken action when this was happening … of course they never thought that these weapons could be used againist them also !!!

pakistan is fighting a war for THEM. BLASTING its own tribesmen with automatic fire, opening its airbases for attacks on the poor population of a neighbouring country and generally keeping bullets ready for anyone that disagrees with the american war and you think pakistan deserves help?

Think about this. If USA "knowingly and willingly" gave weapons to Taliban then the following scenario would have happened.
Taliban would have been able to shoot down Pak helicopters and planes.
---- Remember US WEAPONS like stingers helped defeat Commies in Af.
Taliban would have been able surround the Pak army
How many of you say that Taliban had "USA supplied weapons" that made a difference in the Swat ops?
The answer is zero, zilch, Nada.
The reality is that only Pak army has the "USA supplied weapons" including helicopters, planes, bombs, and rockets. And these weapons have blown the @r$es of Taliban as the whole world can see.
