If Bolton is confirmed and becomes the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations the credibility of U.S. foreign policy, already badly tarnished, will simply evaporate further. The wariness and suspicion that many nations currently have towards the U.S. would become more intense and quite frankly justified in some cases.
Bolton’s nomination is currently being debated in the Senate, a vote could come as soon as tomorrow or later as Democrats may attempt to delay the vote as the Bush administration has refused to turn over some documentation on Bolton.
