U-19 World Cup 1st Semi-Final: Pakistan v West Indies @ Lincoln, Jan 25

Re: U-19 World Cup 1st Semi-Final: Pakistan v West Indies @ Lincoln, Jan 25

I absolutely adore this kid, Hammad Azam. Can just see the brilliance and commitment emitting from him when he plays. inshaAllah looking forward to see him on the national level.

The captain, Azeem, is from my beloved birth city Hyderabad :hula:

I’d say scrap our senior team and rebuild our team with some players from U-19 like babar azam, hammad azam, usman qadir, raza hasan etc :snooty:

At least he can bat very well especially i can't forget his cameo against Bangladesh in which he scored 34 on just 14 balls ....

That will be okay at least for ODIs and T20 :D

Rahul Dravid used to keep too!

What a victory, and what a player Hammad is! He is yet to be dismissed in this tournament. I think Sanjay Manjrekar said that he has scored 173 run off 143 deliveries so far in the tournament without getting dismissed. On top of that, he is also a pretty good medium fast bowler. Could be a great assest for Pakistan!

w0w.. we won mashaAllah.. :jhanda:

The disadvantage of not getting dismissed yet is that he does not have an average, thus he probably won't be listed as the best batsman in the tournament if his average can't be calculated. But if he does get dismissed in the final, his average would be 200 or whatever will be the total number of runs he scored in the tournament.

Go Pakistan …

I think he lacks parchi... so it would be hard for him to compete some other great assets of PCB like Salman Butt, Imran Farhat and rest..

Hammad play gem if an innings along with Waqas. Hopefully Pakistan will remain unbeaten in the tournament, inshallah. :k:

The way they fought back - after being reduced to 49/4 - to win a pressure game shows that this team has great character and self-belief

sadly the same can’t be said about our senior players who lack confidence and self-belief that they can beat Australia

Waqar saying the same about seniors here

Ahmed Shahzaib sorry to say has been crap throughout this tournament. Also, If you check his overall stats, it is nothing to be excited about it either, Now why in the world and on what basis, PCB had sent him earlier to play and OPEN for Pakistan? He isn't even cutting it in Under 19 tournament. I thought PCB had a good eye for talent? Or it was another case of parchi?

^ pssst. It's Ahmed Shahzad.

Re: U-19 World Cup 1st Semi-Final: Pakistan v West Indies @ Lincoln, Jan 25

So not only has Ahmed Shahzad not performed, but he was responsible for misfields as well. And the reason is simple... he's the only one who's played with the senior team, so their bad habits have rubbed off on him. We should keep these u19 kids as far away from the seniors as possible.

or rather great players that have spotted raw talent upfront!

Recent examples:

Saeed Anwar - Imran Khan
Waqar Younis - Imran Khan
Wasim Akram - Javed Miandad
Inzamam-ul-Haq - Imran Khan
Mohammad Aamer - Wasim Akram

these young guys can field better than the pak senior team!

Actually when PCB called Ahmed Shehzad he was doing very well in the domestic circuit...plus I think Younus Khan had a lot to do with his call up...they both used to play for the same domestic team so I think Younus wanted Shehzad in the team. Plus, he played in the last U-19 WC and did really well, and toured Australia with the Pakistan A team and did well. He's just going through a bad patch. Plus, the captain himself was doing well in the domestic tournaments but he is yet to hit form in this tounament as well...but nonetheless, Azeem is a great captain plus speaks really good english! :P

Technically though, I believe Shehzad is one of the best openers we have got...his technique is very good but he has really looked out of sorts in this tournament. He has had some discipline problems in the past, so it could be that he is partying too much :P I remember he got caught going to a nightclub in Kenya while he was on tour with the A team ;)

Umer Akmal was a huge failure in the previous U-19 WC but is doing well with the national team now...so you cant really judge someone just from one tournament.
