To say that Iran has every right to acquire whatever weapons it needs to save itself from US and Israel is not right. Iran is not a very stable country. If these weapons fall into the wrong hands, the outcome would be disastrous not only to the non-islamic world but also for the islamic world. Just for a second let us imagine what would happen if Osama got hold of these weapons. It would only be a matter of time, before he decides he vent these weapons on the country of his choice. The country would loose no time in unleashing its full force on Iran thereby destroying it to dust in no time. While the US and USSR were hoarding nuclear weapons, both had stable governments which prevented these weapons from falling into the wrong hands. Can we say the same about the middle eastern countries. It would be utopian to think otherwise...

dude how to know its unstable, news reports? where do u live? U.S, Canada, Europe, all reports r biased on what they want the public to know, goes for every country. if Israel bomb iran, it will be the one who will start World War III.

So what is your point again? Is it listed somewhere on wikipedia? If Israel can have nuclear weapons without any pressure from international community, why cannot Iran? Where was the hue and cry over Israel's nuclear capability from folks like you? Now that Iran wants to develop this technology to keep it from bcoming next Iraq, you guys are jumping up and down for sanctions and death to their president.

Get over wikipedia already. I asked people to help me with Pakistani related articles on it and the Indian dominance on those articles. I dont get my info from wikipedia I contribute to it.

Ok, now with Iran and Israel.

Quite simply, Israel needs nuclear weapons as a last resort defense. Israel is a small country with a small population. If the IDF cannot defeat the Arab Armies on the borders of Israel, Israel being so small has no place to fall back to. This is called the lack of strategic depth.

If the Arabs manage to inflict massive losses on the Israelis, given the small Israeli population of 5 million, that would be catastrophic for that small population and the arabs can absorb the large casualties.

So If Israel suffers a major defeat on its borders, a large chunk of its population is taken out. Israel needs nuclear weapons as a last resort to deter invasion.

Pakistan needs nuclear weapons to even up the conventional odds between India and Pakistan.

Israel needs them to even up the population and strategic depth equation between Israel and the Arabs.

Making an aburd statement like just because Israel has nuclear weapons then Iran should have them too is BS. Israel and Iran operate under different circumstances.

It would cost nearly 10 million Japanese deaths and 1 Million American deaths to defeat Japan in an invasion. Weigh that against 300,000 that were killed to end World War II.

So you bought that. There was a clear evidence emerging that Japan would surrender, however, America had already made up their mind and one of the reason was to test their nuclear technology.

Whatever the end reality may be, you just simply cannot kill a few hundered thousand people and mame countless others on the notion that you will save others. It is simply barbaric. It was one of the few very sad moments in our recent history.

Apart from that, though we have started to call ourselves civilized, we still love the law of the Jungle where might is right and there is survival of the fittest. I guess we will never change.

By some people's sick logic in this thread, I hope someday a nuclear bomb or multiple ones are dropped in the US killing the whole f***king nation, just to prevent the murder of innocent civilians which may result in the future invasion of countries by this murderous regime.

Oh God. Can we get over this USA used nukes on Japan so its the most evil country on the planet. 62 million people died in world war II, 300,000 died from nuclear weapons, that is less than 0.5% of all the deathtoll that occured in world war II occured from nuclear weapons.

If you want to blame USA for killing innocent people…

What about Germany when it killed nearly 6 Million Jews and 12 million Soviet civilians…

What about Japan when it killed more than 10 million Chinese including the brutal mass murder of 400,000 people Nanking…

Isn’t it obvious. That no matter what Germany, Japan, Soviet Union, did you are always going to show solidarity with Hiroshima and Nagasaki because it shows USA in a bad light.

The apparent discussion here is WHO has STABLE hands to keep nuclear power. I am not talking about how many people were killed during wars. USA will still come at the top for killing million of people in Japan, Veitnam, Korea, Iraq and Panama and many many more which there is no count for it.
USA has come up with this great idea for blamming any country they want to conquer that they carry nuclear and biological weapons. My question to you is what makes USA a good candidiate having stable hands and the right hand to have any nuclear weapons at all? YOu and I know this very well that this is very hypocritical of them to self declared that they would be the keeper for nuclear weapons. After World War II, there was a stop for every country, but USA is the only country which continues to bomb other nations in the name of “wrong hands”.

Funny how Mullahtic reasoning to avoid US invasion will lead to? US Invasion.

US does not invade a country that helps (or at least does not hurt) it's interests. As long Iranians mind their own business of exporting oil, and raising newer and more good looking Mullahs, US has no worries.

On the other hand, if Iranians support Hizb-e-Mullah in Lebanon, and threaten other interests near and dear to Uncle Sam, well! Then all bets are off, nukes or no nukes Iranians people will suffer.

USA already tested the Nuke in the desert. Try living through World War II and then make that comment. 62 Million people had died in World War II, that was barbaric. If this madness was stopped by nuking Berlin and Tokyo to prevent it from happening from the first place, so be it.

The only reason you are harping about it is because it was USA who nuked Japan. If Germany had launched nuclear weapons on England or Soviet Union had nuked Germany, lets see if you would be that sympathetic to the victims as you are now.

Lastly, when Emperor Hirihoto called on the Japanese people to surrender, almost all of them were against surrender. Since Emperor is considered devine in Japan, the people agreed.
