Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

in my siblings i am the one having most of the Daants from my parents, but “honestly all the time i was innocent”, i said that always when i was little kid. I remember the time Iraq and Kuwait had a little war, we were in Saudia and my mother said this to me when she lost her temper on me
“Tumhay IraKiyoon k Bum ki goli lagay”:cb:

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

The father of a very close friend of mine used to say the following quite often:

"Main teri chamb laa deyaan ga."

To this date I don't know what chamb means but I'm assuming he was referrering to the skin.

Ider aa ma teri tangain thori tu houn.

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

as funny as this thread is.....it brought tears to my eyes today.
I tried really hard to remember a harsh word from either Ammi or Papa and I couldn't......not even one.
that's not to say that there weren't any......there were.....but they are now buried under so many good memories that I can't recall them.
May Allah grant jannat to all of those parents that are no longer with us.....ameen.

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

My mom always scared me saying that she would sell me to the Phatans. I was so scared that I thought that i'd become some vagabond and sell dishes and blankets house by house. I actually cried at that thought.

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

Hadiyaan no Loon lawah? Odd, why would she want to put the Rapper “Loon” on your bones?

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

this Aunty i know said this to her son upon hearing him swear (the f-word) for the first time... tum dekhna, aai'nda yeh ilfaz istemaal kiya na tou tum jab sou ke utho ge, tumhari zabaan tooti hui paRhi hui ho gi" lol

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

There was this phupho, phupho of the whole street.
Her huby was very nice but quiet man. Puhpho was like rani Jhansi.

When ever we were playing on the street and she was passing by and we did not stop for her, she would say "meen tadian sary dian suntaan ker denian"

Ohhhh man that use to give all boys chills :D

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

Mai tumhari tikka boti bana dongi

The best from dad would be when he hears a frequent loud crash or noise in the kitchen, he goes, 'hath vich suraakh hain? Dheyan naal toro!' :D

Typical Daant from elders ..

My dad used to say to my brothers mostly
" tum logo ko masala lagnay wala hai " or tuning honay wali hai lol.
Let me recall more, it reminded me of those lovely childhood days.

Re: Typical Daant from elders ..

I know this wasn't the point of your post but I wanted to express my condolences for your loss. As someone else said, it must have been very tough to have endured that at a young age. I'm sure you grew up a lot quicker than most people did as a result.

As for daants, man, my dad used to be like "Kuttay de puttar!" all the time, especially when I brought home bad report cards. So one day I finally replied, "You sure about that, dad?" I thought his face was gonna explode but fortunately he just forced himself to walk away.
