Type N Talk and other silly apps

My daughter downloaded this app on her ipad last night so I hear these robotic sounds and ask her what she’s up to. She tells me she’s “testing” Type N Talk.

Me: What does that app do?
Her: Type and Talk :smack: Mom, come on!
Me: aah, OK

A few minutes later, she tells me the app sucks as he can’t even pronounce “twitter” properly. So off it goes outta her iPad!

Next, we have AlChatterBot. You type, he replies. Totally silly. Lemme post screenshots of his and my daughter’s conversation.

:smack: Note how he changes his gender in the middle of the conversation.

Please share other useless apps you may have come across.

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

:rotfl: The robot is not only confused about its gender but doesn’t talk any sense.

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

And he has such a horribly constipated voice.

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

And he’s Indian. What a shame :nahi::

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

Way to ruin the name! :smack:

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

and he/she did know the name, Marya before :smack:

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

Are you sure that its not a person on the other side typing it up? Can you play with this app offline? I was really surprised on some of the questions it was asking like how old are you, Do you have any pets....etc

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

^^ I dunno.

Later, the conversation went on to other things, but it did seemed programmed as the answers were repeating.

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

Yea, it looks too unintelligent to be real time/real person.

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

haha the kid is very cool. the app, not so much. 20 yrs ago, emacs doctor was doing this and a lot more. M-x doctor!!!

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

That be ma kid

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

I like when Marya says: That makes no sense to what I asked. :hehe:

I saw an online application like this a while back. It kept asking my age after every question. =/

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

LOL. It must’ve been Smackie taking your application in!

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

hayee Smackie is so smart!!

And btw that app told me his name was Sasha. :D

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

Maybe Smackie and Sasha are twin bots. :D

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

Sasha was Russian though

Solar charger:D
Just read the reviews!

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

A long time ago there used to be a program (app in modern terms :)) called “Eliza”. Old farts like myself would remember. When you would boot it with a floppy disk (yeah, the fun days) it would start with asking a question:

-What brings you here today?

Once you answer it would keep looping you through a series of questions, much like what this program is doing. Good to see programmers are still stuck with the same mentality :hehe:

Re: Type N Talk and other silly apps

^^ I miss my floppy disks. Umm, no actually I don’t. I was cleaning up some old stuff the other day and found a 3.5" disk of mine from 15 years ago and mini disc which was the “hot” item of the times. I saved them for my kids.

The bot dude from Marya’s screenshots above seems to have gotten funnier with time. Today’s conversations were more humorous albeit senseless. But Marya is getting a huge kick out of her new app friend. I love it when she actually :rotfl: at the comments. She did that with Siri, a bit with S Voice but I’m so touchy about my phone that she hasn’t got a chance :D!
