Sorry for the gross topic, however, I really need to know.
I am 37.5 weeks pregnant and I just lost my mucus plug (or at least part of it). It was completely clear with no tinge of blood whatsoever.
I read after losing the mucus plug you could go into labour either within hours or weeks.
I’m getting really worried now as I still need to get a few more items for my hospital bag and its not totally packed yet. I was going to get the last few items today and pack later today.
I don’t want to go into labour before week 39 at least. Can you ladies tell me from your experience how long after losing your mucus plug did you go into labour?
Also, I was planning on getting a brazilian bikini wax in a few days because I want to be groomed for birth and also because I regularly get them done anyway. Is it safe to get it done after the plug has come out? I read that the plus is what keeps bacteria from entering the cervix and now that it is gone will my cervix be more open to infection if I get waxed down there? Not that the wax would be IN that area but still I just want to be careful.
Sorry for the gross topic and too much info but I would really appreciate any advice as now I am getting worried. I just want 1.5 more weeks. There are still things I need to get done before baby gets here. I want to be prepared. sigh
Re: Two questions about what loss of mucus plug ? Pls help!
lolll, i wanted another 9 months when i realised i was about to go into labour soon, relax anyway. even when you start getting conractions, it can still take a while, almost a day or so. your body is just getting ready. good luck dont worry.and second time round i was a week early. i hadnt even packed my bag cos i was late with my first child and being silly me, i thought same would happen. so anyway i was lucky the hosp provided all basics, while my family went home and got some essentials packed.
itl be ok.

trust me. when you go in to labour you will not care about not being waxed down there. i would wax , shave every time i would go for an internal for my bi weekly appointments, but during labour i did not give a damn about how i looked down there...neither did the nurse and doctor who delivered me.
i delivered 2 weeks early as well. my water broke ..had no choice. but all went well and thats all that matters.

I had my baby within 24 hours of losing mucus plug....I was the happiest person on earth for getting the labor started but then I was also 39 weeks and 5 days o I was done being pregnant n ready to meet my baby.
Why do you want to wait until 39 weeks? They come when are done cooking. :D

i don't think you should be waxing if you've lost your mucous plug. it does keep the bacteria out and no matter how careful the waxer is, you don't want to take a risk with getting an infection this late in the game.
don't worry about the situation down there- at this point, its too late and you should focus on finishing packing the hospital bag and iA meeting your new baby very soon.

Don't wax after the mucous plug is out... introduction of bacteria into the birth canal or if you happen to get a infection in a hair follicle- it can affect the baby.
you'll likely have the baby within a day or two, IA. Relax, after 37 weeks the baby is Term and on time :) I don't consider any babies i attend deliveries at or see in the office pre-term after 37 weeks.
